Everyone is so offended.
Discussion
Of course everyone's offended. Being offended is one step from being a victim. Victimhood is the currency of the lefty social strata.
And what a horrific thing it is - I'm lucky being a straight white male, not because of all that priviledge muck but because I'm the bogeyman, the n-word of this scene (as they still need someone to hate on, right?) I can see it all clearly for what it is - divide and conquer politics.
I found out something about myself that could somewhat up my social standing and it took about a second to decide against using it - who wants to be defined by their lesser qualities or by the wrongs done to them? But this is what is encouraged and of course there are no winners at all, as even those with the most to gain can do it only by bearing the biggest grudge and those with the least are supposed to feel guilty about it. What a bleak world.
Add in the fact many people constantly pre check what theyre going to say as they're afraid of saying the slightly wrong thing - when even the commited super lovies like benedict cumberback will be thrown under the bus for something nobody thought he meant, but which many totally aligned with him felt a duty to punish in spite - and you have pretty much the definition of thoughtcrime, the lack of free expression.
Fortunately its actually a minority that really buy into this, albeit a minority that dominate media and education, but most people can see this nonsense for what it is and are hoping it eats itself soon, which it must surely do. I worry for where the pedulum has to swing to though.

Social media has changed peoples perception of the world, often to something dangerously blinkered. Its my understanding that the social media giants are begining to realise just how fundamental a role they play and that it perhaps comes with certain obligations - the great power/great responsibilty thing - they've sneaked from a mere entertainment plaything into something thats eclipsing traditional media.Strange world today, minorities who believe that they are the majority.

The problem is that opinion will become the majority if people believe or are being taught that it's the majority view.Strange world today, minorities who believe that they are the majority.
God knows what society will be like in a generation or two's time; it doesn't look promising to me.

Anti-discrimination group Kick It Out has contacted Manchester United to ask them to stop the club's fans singing a "racist" chant about Romelu Lukaku.
It says the lyrics, about the size of the 24-year-old striker's penis, are "offensive and discriminatory".
"Racist stereotypes are never acceptable, irrespective of any intention to show support for a player," said Kick It Out.

Also looks like the England Woman's manager is going to lose his job because of claims of racial discrimination, despite being cleared in two separate investigations. Racism is thankfully pretty much a thing of the past in football, and it's hard to believe that only 30 years ago people thought it was acceptable to throw bananas and make monkey noises at black players. The problem for groups such as Kick it Out is that since their mission has been largely accomplished, they now need to go looking for offence in order to stay relevant and keep themselves in a job. Has anyone mentioned the New World Tapestry? Some whingy bint wants it removed from public viewing as it's "racist"

30 years ago? This sort of thing still happens in Turkey and Russia.Paddy Power advert banned for using racist language:

Certainly tried to be controversial (and the news coverage is probably more advertising than they paid for in the first place).
But, a few things in their defence:

But, a few things in their defence:
- Mayweather approved the advert himself
- Mayweather had the phrase emblazoned on the underwear he wore at the weigh in
- It was a line used by Wesley Snipes in a film
- It is arguably positive

Beth Bellamy decided to stop shopping at Tesco because of how she was addressed by a checkout operator.
"I was fed up with being called sweetheart, darling and babe by checkout operators at my local Tesco," she explains.
"So I told the young checkout lady that I would rather she didn't call me that as it was patronising, and that I found it offensive. She replied that if I didn't like it I was free to use a different checkout operator.
"The checkout operator I chose was one at a completely different and cheaper supermarket."
She was offended by being called darling, sweetheart and babe. She was basically offended for being spoken to by the working class."I was fed up with being called sweetheart, darling and babe by checkout operators at my local Tesco," she explains.

The thing is we can can criticise her, harden the f&ck up etc but thats to miss the big picture - we're conditioned to look for offense now and thats the problem, you find what you're looking for - its like buying a particular car and then you start noticing them everywhere, because its become relevent to you.Good ol' English FA again.
The England women played Russia at Tranmere Rovers' home ground. Tranmere call themselves the Super White Army and have a banner proclaiming that.
One of the players (a Tranmere fan) posts an image of the team training with the banner in the background... Professionally offended comment and the banner is covered up for the game.

Someone better not tell them that NZs basketball team is called the 'Tall Blacks'.

See if it were me I would be looking at how we could deal with those who cause issues like this - those that see offence where no reasonable person would. To me they are as distasteful and damaging as racists and the like. The England women played Russia at Tranmere Rovers' home ground. I mention this as (and please hold with me) over the last 12 months or so i have come to find more and more that I feel a degree of offence at the slogan "Black Lives Matter". Not because I don't think that they do (obviously) but because the more i see it the more i feel that it is actually increasing any racial tension rather than providing a counter to it. Every time i see it I mentally go "All lives matter regardless of colour you racist pricks".
I mention this as it is something that i have discussed with a number of people (yes some of them with extra added melanin) and everyone has the same thoughts - why does colour even come into it - All lives matter, regardless of colour, and to deal with a racial issue by creating a Black Vs White mentality only serves to deepen divides.
