Assuming we're both still on here in 2020, £100 to a charity of the winner's choosing? smile

Perfect. Do you want to post the cheque for £100 to Cancer Research now, or do you want to wait for formalities smile?
There's more fun in waiting.

Besides, as we Brexit my money will only be worth £1.72 by then so it'll hurt less.

, it starts the same way every time - the country is broken, only we can fix it.
Sounds like every other political speech or manifesto in history.
It's not fascism, it's politics.

Macron is the establishment dressed up as the disestablishment, some clever machination has got him where he is;
Spot on. Including the deliberate taking out of Fillon. Do you think he was the first centre-right politician in France to employ his family or accept gifts?.

andy_s said:
Le Pen has been pretty vilified in the predominantly left wing press despite the parties stance being very much a watered down, 'socially acceptable', version of her fathers original project yet still made a huge impact; however, even if she were to win (and this applies also to Macron to a lesser extent) her manifesto would be severely stymied by what will undoubtedly be a left-wing government underneath her - think Obama and to a degree Trump.
Despite their similarities the "populist right" differs from country to country. Le Pen is far more of a "grown up" politician than Wilders in Holland and rather than talk about "banning mosques" (as Wilders did) she wants a halt to immigration.

But no doubt whatever she does to "detoxify" the party she will always be called a "Fascist"

Here's the rest of that you forgot to mention.

Le Pen's public positions on a range of issues talk about how France has lost her grandeur, the system is broken, money has caused delocalistion (her actual words) of business, we must stop this by banning all immigration.

We saw the exact same rhetoric from the far right here in the wake of the Westminster attack - Farage said what politicians have done over the past 15 years (he is one by the way, despite his endless claims to be an outsider) would affect the way the country lives for the next 100 years, despite the fact the attacker came from Kent.

Hopkins said we were disunited & cowed on Fox news.Pure bks. The point is we're often told the left hate their own country. In fact if you pay attention to the rhetoric of far right wing politics, the opposite is true. They use any event, no matter how thin their evidence to exploit their country for political gain & Le Pen is textbook.

So yes, she's a fascist, an out & out fascist, offering simple solutions to complex problems for the gratification of people looking for easy answers & I'm delighted the French see through it as they have done ever since the FN came into being.

Classic Alinsky tactic. The opposite is actually true, and the same phony racist narrative is being employed that was propagated during the US election.

Twitter (and FB) is actively reducing the reach of various Libertarian, pro-populist, and non-progressive account holders via shadow banning and algorithms that control who sees what. Youtube also active here and using demonetization and age restrictions.

I suspect sites like Gab are the wave of the future. Censorship is off the charts at the moment.

Sad.

2/10 for that one. You missed cognitive dissonance, libtard and, most disappointing of all, you omitted the exclamation mark after "Sad" . Your hero, St Donald of Mar El Largo would never have made that last mistake. Did like the random introduction of racist into your post though.

Did you actually read the latter article by the way?

1/10 for insult-laden, limp retort.

Cognitive dissonance is a given.

he difference in France is the lost demographic - the numbers of youngsters there who are hard right, rather than moderate or liberal left. Youth unemployment is creating a very different political dynamic to, say, the UK or USA.

Generalising about people, just because of their voting preference is, frankly, cretinous. It's like taking the view that all overweight people are dumb, because they 'must' know their diet and lifestyle is killing them.
An analogy with overweight people is odd, to put it mildly.

UKIP voters; here is the table representing percentages for certain groups of voters.

From yougov, which column is for UKIP?

Looks like Le Pen will win. Monsieur 'Minion' Hollande has just urged the French to reject Le Pen hehe

Joking aside, I wish they'd realise that people don't like to be told what to do rolleyes

R4 had a lovely thought provoking piece on the first 100 days of President Le Pen

In a nutshell they pretty much parodied the first 100 days of Trump but with a French spin

I liked in particular the suggestion that she gave Donald permission to build a Trump tower next to the Eiffel

I am of course kidding - it was rubbish but it did make me laugh

They were supposed to do a similar one for Macon but I stopped driving before it came on - I wonder if it had a similar bias

That's ^^^ an interesting turn.

Just Marine Le Pen, no NF, vs. that bloke who married his primary school teacher. Because that's not weird at all.

Does that make her an independent now? So she's trying to ditch the national front stigma?

Do you have a version of that table that includes 'have a proper degree from a proper university', given that > 30% of young people go to University these days whereas a university education was the preserve of the elite few 40+ years ago.

One that was grammatically correct would be a start; "Have no qualification of just GCSE"... what?
Have an honours degree, 3 'A' levels and 13 O' levels. Voted UKIP a couple of time to keep Cameron's feet to the fire. Seems unlikely I'll vote UKIP again, the referendum was held, things move on.

Is it still 1 O'level equates to 3 GCSEs?!
