Many would say all the inhabitants of the Jungle were in the same pot. ie illegal immigrants, with no legal right to be there and seemingly no reason to not claim asylum in France unless they were a) not in a million years going to get it, or b) figured they will get an easier and better life in Britain.

In either case, they are NOT refuges, they are economic migrants. Because genuine refugees would claim asylum in a safe haven like France, (or indeed, Greece, Turkey, Italy, Germany etc).
If you were a Syrian or Iraqi refugee fleeing war, why would you live in the Jungle waiting to get under the axles of a truck to get to the UK, when you have all the other safe countries that you've travelled through. There's no reason to unless you're a chancer see an easy life for yourself in the UK.

this is the small detail that the PC brigade (Silly Tart Lilly Allen included ) seem to find so unpalatable.

Ahh yes, the apologetic Lily Allen, who can't get a taxi "said she has had a "glimpse of what it feels like to be discriminated against" after being shunned by a taxi driver."

All of our hearts are bleeding for her I am sure.
(well, I'll admit it, mine isn't)

Utterly clueless woman.
What she has experienced is the ramifications of making stupid, uninformed, statements in a failed publicity attempt.

I think you'll find it was her life of privilege that gave her a glimpse into being discriminated against

Whatever it is, I'd like to buy that taxi driver a drink.

Not that astonishing when you consider how deluded she must have to be in the first place.
"despicable" would more likely be my choice of word. But as we only 'know' as much as the paper is telling us, I would reserve judgement.

I admire how you assume her intentions to be altruistic.

Personally I suspect more selfish motivations were behind the decision to abandon her family and shack up with all those strapping young men from the MENA region.

You appear to be suggesting that the meat & 2 veg was more appealing in Calais than that that was on the plate back in South Wales.

Many will consign you to the gates of hell for such a suggestion laugh

I have to admit that I failed to consider the ethical perspective of an aid worker forming a relationship with a 'resident' of the camp.

I'll go with my first choice "despicable".

Just to secure my place away from all those pious god botherers in the afterlife on the off chance any of them are actually right a comedy compare and contrast concerning one of the Guardian's "Women who shaped the World 2015"

Clare Moseley said:
These are not people who have come here by choice to take advantage of our generosity. That’s a caricature. Who would go through what they’ve gone through – terror, bereavement, loss of all their possessions – unless there lives depended on it? They’re here because existence is impossible back home. Whether it’s war, political or religious persecution, whether it’s Syria or Afghanistan, they have no choice.
https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2015/dec/18/refugees-calais-friends-need-help

The Sun said:
The former accountant had spoken out only last year about her charity’s zero-tolerance policy on sex between volunteers and migrants – but the pair’s relationship was well-known among migrants and volunteers.

Bajjar, 27, was previously exposed by The Sun for posing as a Syrian refugee in the Jungle after conning a British woman to get married in Tunisia...

But it all went sour earlier this month when Clare accused Bajjar of conning her after he begged her for cash to send to his family.

He was arrested on January 6 on suspicion of stealing Clare’s mobile phone but was released.
