And none of this takes account of the question over the relationship between police numbers and crime levels. This may be the first and possibly the last time that I point to an article in the Guardian, but here goes ... https://www.theguardian.com/politics/reality-check...

I was simply assuming the new police will be primarily targetting hate crimes, particularly post-Brexit which has seen countless thousands of vicious physical attacks on foreigners. Literally anyone who is not white and English has been living in fear of their lives for the last year. This appalling state of afffairs has to be dealt with. As a society we have to put an end to things like posting a picture of Nigel Farage or voicing doubts about the sustainability of the current levels of immigration and similar overtly fascistic and antisocial behaviours.

That said, my primary concern is to learn where these 10,000 (or is it 250,000, or may 2,000 and pehaps 250?) will be working from? Is these sufficient space in current police staions for additional workers? What about accommodation in Police Houses? Diane also does not appear to have made any allowance for pension, healthcare and assorted employee benefits costs. So many unanswered uestions and I for one look forward to listening to her detailed spending plans. Perhaps she could make the big announcement in the midday show on LBC Radio...

Just seen John Woodcock on Daily Politics.

Fair play to him for his honesty. I hope it doesn't cost him though...
He wasn't deselected despite petitions on change.org etc rolleyes

I applaud his honesty in saying he is an ardent labour supporter but cannot in good conscience tell people to vote for Corbyn.

One can always find something else to attack. His dress sense for example....Future PM material right there.
Perhaps a lot of the population give scant regard for the dress sense, of the current crop of deluded lunatics in power
TBH I could not care less if he & Diane A wore matching nipple-clamps and pink tu-tus if they had a set of decent and coherent policies. Sadly they have no policies or credibility

Seeing him riding around like that is one of the few things for which I do respect him!

How can Jezza possibly survive this? They've been decimated.

I'm so looking forward to how the usual labour suspects respond in the media today!

Just wondering when Jawknee will pop up and put us all in our places for doubting the ability of Labour to secure an amazingly good result in the council elections.

No, he can't even do that right. He's got drops, but look at the height of those handlebars. Massive amounts of steerer sticking up from the headtube which ought to be cut off.

You can't make a road bike into a sit up and beg, Jezza, and still be credible...

Their responses to the local election results alone is reason enough to not vote for these clowns. They don't know st from clay.

Its not like Corbyn is going to stand down as they simply wont have time to get anyone else in place for the general election.

That's May's real stroke of genius gamble paying off...

Corbyn has been shown to be an utter disaster for Labour, yet they can't get another leader in place before the GE, so they'll have no choice but to let him lead them into that.

i don't think it is too much of stretch to say we may well be looking at the beginning of the end for the labour party.they now look like one of the sttier protest movements not a group looking to lead a country.

i personally hope a viable new party appears soon. however, looking at the people currently involved in politics i am beginning to think it is not possible to find a group of non troughers that would be willing to enter politics. either politics today attracts a majority of these types or british people have a narcissistic trait the comes to the fore once they enter politics.

4 million UK voters seem to be leaving and going to the Conservatives its game over for June if that happens even though it was a slim chance its non existent now. How can he look at himself in the mirror and think " I am what the country needs I am what the country wants". I think it may be even worse than anyone could imagine for them come the June vote.
