I don't agree with Corbyn's positions on national security, foreign policy etc however all of this faux outrage by the Tories and Lib Dems over the timing of his comments is a bit silly. They are accusing him of trying to take advantage of a national crisis however if he can't talk about such things less than 2 weeks before a general election then when can he talk about it?
It is not faux.It was a clever speech, but designed cynically for electioneering purposes. The 'let's not question patriotism' business particularly nauseating - he was attempting to cut off some serious questions he'll be asked.
My bet is he will refer back to it any time his past is raised and say something akin to 'I made my position clear and we should be moving on rather than promoting division'.
Cynical but sadly probably effective.
OK so who wrote this, a week after the London bombings:
"It is difficult to deny that they have a point, the Told-You-So brigade.
As the Butler report revealed, the Joint Intelligence Committee assessment in 2003 was that a war in Iraq would increase the terror threat to Britain.
The Iraq war did not create the problem of murderous Islamic fundamentalists, though the war has unquestionably sharpened the resentments felt by such people in this country, and given them a new pretext.
The Iraq war did not introduce the poison into our bloodstream but, yes, the war did help to potentiate that poison."

No st. On a scale of 1 to 10 how much of a factor is it? It's a factor but a tiny factor imho. It would be interesting to see exactly how the world changed with an Insipid UK. Added, we can't control what the US does (largely) and we'll get attacked for their actions. Plenty of other attacks in Europe where their countries are not involved"It is difficult to deny that they have a point, the Told-You-So brigade.

France didn't invade Iraq and they have had their share of terrorism.
Iraq, Syria, Libya Its all an excuse used for the feeble minded. If it hadnt been that it would be something else.
Those who think that if Israel pulled out of the west bank and aceded to the demands of Hamas then the terrorism would stop are living in cloud cuckoo land. Unfortunately this is now our lot.
I think the UK security services are doing a great job.

On Daily Politics, Labour Shadow Int'l Sec was asked "will you base our foreign policy on not wanting to upset anyone?". Classic.
And Labour members not in agreement with Corbyn.

If you dislike Corbyn already, he won't persuade you over to his side.If you like him, he won't have put you off.
If you are ambivalent, but you are prepared to be persuaded to withdraw troops, tax and spend then you may as well watch it.

It fundamentally changed my view of the man.

From support to no support? It fundamentally changed my view of the man.
Or the other way?
ie would you have voted labour and this interview changed your mind?
I now think him deceitful and really very dangerous.

I started to type that I don't dislike him but if I am 100% honest I have absolutely no respect for the little weasel whatsoever so in fairness dislike is probably accurate.
Nothing he could now say / do that I may like would get anywhere near overwriting all the things he said / did I didn't like.
So on balance the ornaments are safe and consider it deleted.

So my assessment is broadly correct.I now think him deceitful and really very dangerous.
He is a seriously divisive man - I reckon that performance will have persuaded no body who disliked him him to vot for him.
But I don't think it will have persuaded those undecided that they couldn't vote for him.
