Just a reminder of the people who Corbyn cynically used last night in an attempt to break the government and gain power for himself.

This was never a vote to give these worthy people more money. It was an attempt to break the government. That's why there were cheers at the end - Corbyn failed (again).
Exactly, this was Corbyn using a sacrificial policy to test the waters of the governments majority
Corbyn failed by 14 votes, meaning the DUP support ultimately wasn't needed.

Are you advocating that the puplic sector moves down to the private sector conditions?
Go on, say "race to the bottom", you know you're dying to.
Extremely slow plod to economic reality would be more accurate!

That's right, there was. And when it was suggested it should be means tested so that the wealthier pensioners didn't receive it, there was uproar. From the left.
Why are you letting the left dictate your Policies?

Was it not withdrawn as part of the DUP bung/bribe?
And if Corbyn needed every other party to form his coalition (the idea is literally insane) but lets assume they could. Imagine what little hand outs would take place. SNP, LibD. You will just have to accept that Labour will not be in Nr 10 for 5 years and id happily take bets on that. smile

I worked in the public sector, and was subject to the same salary progression; it isn't as great as it sounds. I did an electrical apprenticeship in a university estates department and stayed there about seven years afterwards. As an apprentice, my pay was fantastic compared to the lads at college who were mostly working for contractors. When they come out of their time though, they suddenly move onto full pay, but I get put onto the bottom of my grade.

Those that had reached the top of their grade were on reasonable money; it was probably a bit less than an equivalent job in the private sector, but the pension and job security make up for that. The pay at the bottom of the grade is crap though, so the annual increment is not a perk, it is just the means of progression to a reasonable salary.
Pension and job conditions....you forgot those and how much they are worth.....

Yet another fail for Corbyn as the Queen's Speech cleared the House of Commons with MPs voting in favour by 323 to 309.

Labour's attempt to add some of its policies to the Queen's Speech failed.

Though anything and everything that keeps Corbyn out of Number 10 and McDonnell, Abbott, Rayner et al out of government posts is a great service.

Agreed but the whole House being wrapped up in constant challenges. What a bunch of assholes. And yet again, Labours own MPs split over policy. Who thinks labours party will crack again, well before Tory does

No it was because a lot of people believed the Tories were treating OAP's bad not knowing exactly what was going on.
I knew people who were getting this payment who were minted, imho a good place to start saving a bit of money by not dishing it out to people who don't need it.
Tories say white, Corbyn and his cronies say black irrespective if he agrees with it or not.
