You wont go. Tell you what, PM me if Corbyn gets in and I’ll give £100 to the charity of your choice if you do go. I’ll even drive you to the airport free of charge.

Its bullst spouted by predominantly tory voters as some kind of threat that the electorate better not vote against their interests or they’ll take their ball and go and play elsewhere.
They never do, they never will. There are a few high paid workers here and there that might but the numbers are inconsequential.
In fact more of the lower paid workers leave than the higher paid ones:

I will if I can persuade the wife to go. https://www.forbes.com/sites/beltway/2016/05/26/do...

Going back in a month’s time.
Also, check out Guy Hands, Mike Platt, Alan Howard, Peter de Putron. When these guys left they took big parts of their employees with them.
Yeah but it’s all a bluff
Like I said, PM me, my cab awaits
You won’t though... I’ll bet £500 on it.

So, these “rich”, do they all suddenly down tools and stop trying to make money? Or do they redouble their efforts in order to earn even more money so as to offset the increase in the additional tax they are being asked to pay?
It’s unthinkable that people of that mindset would be so demoralised by an increase in taxation that they’d abandon their entreprenurial instincts.
It’s like the tired old myth that they’d leave the UK in droves. If it were true we’d be swamped with French wealth makers ourselves.
You clearly don't live in London; it's absolutely full of French high earners. It’s unthinkable that people of that mindset would be so demoralised by an increase in taxation that they’d abandon their entreprenurial instincts.

Yes, but they’re employees. Their companies have relocated due to the onerous Corporate taxes.
And whilst they’ve moved here the French economy still equals the Uk economy, so what does that tell you about the impact on the home economy when they leave?

For 40years until when? This is a 2012- onwards phenomenon.Yes, but they’re employees. Their companies have relocated due to the onerous Corporate taxes.

I’ve posted research that shows the vast majority don’t.
No, you've posted research that US millionaires, subject to US federal taxes regardless of where they live, don't move state to avoid a small fraction of their tax bill. Quite what you think that has to do with Brit's moving to halve or eliminate their tax bill entirely is anyone's guess. It's a pity you didn't make your bet with me, I could have done with the lift to Heathrow.gadgetmac said:

The last time labour tried to "...tax them til the pips squeak.." there was indeed an outflux of people (remember the brain drain?) and this was before it was common to travel anywhere on a whim. Those are facts

Not to mention that Labour were planning what to do about capital flight if they got in.
Really given all the dire press about the Torres this year policy U turns etc in normal world it would be beyond belief for the main opposition not be be 10]-20 points ahead in the polls. And yet that isn’t he case at all instead they are neck and neck with Torys just edging it with the polls moving towards Torres for a long time.
Why is this?
Maybe “for the many not he few” the actual policy is “for the few (his loyal supporters) not the many”

I'm planning for a possible exit if Corbyn gets in. His policies are highly likely to have a significant impact on my income (property and the gig economy)
The world is a much smaller place these days. My family is spread across the world, as are a lot of my friends. Fortunately my skills is in demand abroad so I'm more than happy to move somewhere better (with better weather ideally !)

Q1 GDP growth at 0.1% announced today continues the Tories piss poor financial record. Looking forward to seeing how this one can be spun to #BlameLabour.
It can’t but would Labour have done any better? djc206 said:

It can’t but would Labour have done any better? They need a kick up the backside but instead we let them off the hook whenever they shift the blame.

Probably. Labour at least seem more committed to getting the country growing again. The Conservatives have been resigned for a while now to stagnation in national growth, pay and productivity while living costs and personal debt levels rise.

How are they committed to growing anything? Everything we hear from them is anti business and anti wealth, that’s the opposite of wanting to grow. The only things they seem to be concerned with growing are the welfare state, taxes and debt. They need a kick up the backside but instead we let them off the hook whenever they shift the blame.

Actually they seem to oppose every action to fix the damaged economy. They want to borrow more to give free stuff to everybody; I'd hardly call that growing the economy.Gassing Station | News, Politics & Economics | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
