Why are Croydon Council crowdfunding? Is that genuine? What has it got to do with them?

To me at least, the fact he's claimed to have passed out means he knows he fked up big time.
I don't think the driver has claimed anything, at least not publicly, that was just one of the suggestions people put forward.

Well it's been reported in the papers and on the news that the driver claims he passed out and fell on the accelerator.

Does that sound remotely likely to be true?

Passengers claim the bad driving has been an ongoing thing and this was an accident waiting to happen.

Which of these do you think is most likely to be true?

I thought most of these trains have a dead man's hand button which has to be constantly pressed to keep the train in motion. If he would have passed out then hand comes off button and tram puts on emergency brakes.

With reports that this has happened on this tram before (but perhaps not with the same driver) does anyone think bravado may be involved? In terms of what speeds the corner could be taken at?

That complaint letter from the concerned passenger the previous week is a real eye opener.

I heard a VERY worrying theory that seems as though it may have some genuine momentum now. A suggestion that it was a deliberate act for a quite unbelievable reason. Hence the incident the previous week. I hope it is nonsense, but nothing would surprise me as this incident just seems unbelievable.

I barrel rolled my Renault 11 turbo when I was 19. Went over twice on it's roof while I wasn't wearing a seatbelt. Very lucky indeed to get out without a scratch. The coat that I wearing at fell to pieces eventually as it was sprayed with acid from the spare battery in the boot that flung itself around the interior of the car while rolling.

eek

Athough the accident probably wouldn't have happened if I'd had passengers in the car, as I wouldn't have been driving like a lunatic.

Did you really just write that after calling for a prison sentence for the tram driver without knowing the facts?

I won't write what I believe that makes you as the post would get deleted, but seriously take a look in the mirror.

What the hell are you on about?

You really aren't making any sense.

I crashed my car, the only accident I've ever had, in the middle of nowhere at 2am with absolutely nobody else involved. Unlike the tram driver I haven't killed a lot of people and injured a hell of lot more then lied through my teeth about why it happened.

Now I'm a bigger than him.

You really are deluded.

There is a large and extensive thread on this topic here if you want to discuss the Shoreham crash -

You admit that you were driving like a lunatic. I would add that the only reason you didn't kill anyone was luck (eg had a car been coming the other way etc etc). So, even if the tram driver was driving like a lunatic when the crash happened (and we don't know he was yet), the only difference between him and you is luck. Yet you are the first and loudest to call for him to be strung up for his actions before you even know the facts.

I know you'll say "yeah, but I didn't have any passengers", as if you have no responsibility towards any other road users outside of your vehicle. As others have said, accidents can and do happen. Sometimes they warrant punishment (eg driving badly enough to barrel-roll a car) and sometimes they don't.

Can you see now why you might come across as a massive bellend with your comments? I'm guessing not, but I thought I'd point it out anyway.

I'm also well aware that I am simply feeding a troll and I should know better.

This really is pathetic, you're coming across as Grade A looney.

Answer me this.

The driver claims he passed out and fell on the accelerator. Do you believe that to be true and if so why?

Because I can see that accidents can and do happen, sometimes people are to blame and sometimes not, and therefore sometimes punishment is needed and sometimes not. But I don't consider the opinion too highly of someone that confesses to having caused an accident through driving like a tt, but it's ok because nobody was killed because he was on his own in the car. Can you not see what a stty attitude that is to have, especially when you're calling for the head of the tram driver?

MarshPhantom said:

I believe it is as likely to be true as it is to be false because I have no evidence to suggest he is either telling the truth or lying.

Now, if you'd like me to speculate, then I could of course say that this would be a convenient excuse for driving like a tt and that will be for the jury to decide if this goes to court.

I'll leave this now.
