They can only ban him from official meetings. He's allowed to visit with Trump on a personal visit should Trump wish to.
That's what Downing Street are trying to stop...the "personal visit". Because (I assume) it will generate loads of publicity for Farage and that will go down like a bucket of cold sick with the Government.
Not sure Trump will be told who he can and can't meet in his own 'personal' time in the UK...I can see him meeting Farage just for the hell of it.

It's almost as if he's manufactured the story to try and remain relevant. He'd never stoop so low, would he?

Why would he be meeting him in an official capacity anyway?

To help the country, of course. If he can't persuade Donald to give us the bestest, the biggliest and the brexitest deals of them all, who can?

I could almost want it to happen, just to see the reaction to Trump and Farage having a pint together - Guardian comments section meltdown.

And this thread.........Glo will pop in soon swiftly followed by giblets his new admirer. wink

FWIW I don't think them meeting will serve any real useful purpose other than to wind people up.

Probably.

Boris will want/need to suck up to Trump, especially if he’s determined to force through a hard Brexit. That will require a sacrifice to be made.

So now a foreign leader can dictate whom we send to represent our country and interests?

Absolutely scandalous.

Unfortunately Boris wouldn’t commit to letting the current Ambassador stay until he retires in January which in itself is appalling.

British politicians now being dictated to by a foreign country. Sovereignty’s a bh, ain’t it?

Why is it "appalling"?

WTF is an ambassador doing writing stuff like that down in the first place. And then letting it get leaked.

Doesn't strike me as especially...diplomatic. Seems pretty stupid.

Whether he retires in 6mths or not is of no consequence. He's made his job all but impossible to do with any efficacy it seems.

There is plenty of outrage about Trump, faux or otherwise...but I think there needs to be much more respecting of the position rather than the man.
