It's equally easy to find posts from Islamic scholars which state the opposite.
Of course.

It is harder to find a Christian who tries to argue a case for it.

Oh come on. Do you really believe that the below are a good thing?

"Mentioning some of these benefits, Dr. Haamid al-Ghawaabi says:

The secretions of the labia minora accumulate in uncircumcised women and turn rancid, so they develop an unpleasant odour which may lead to infections of the vagina or urethra. I have seen many cases of sickness caused by the lack of circumcision.

Circumcision reduces excessive sensitivity of the clitoris which may cause it to increase in size to 3 centimeters when aroused, which is very annoying to the husband, especially at the time of intercourse.

Another benefit of circumcision is that it prevents stimulation of the clitoris which makes it grow large in such a manner that it causes pain.

Circumcision prevents spasms of the clitoris which are a kind of inflammation.

Circumcision reduces excessive sexual desire."
Nobody wants a rancid woman !!!

Now that it is classed as 'illegal' in the UK, could children who have suffered this as a UK citizen later grow up and take their own parents to court over allowing the practice? Perhaps suing for damages.

That obviously entails that they grow up and get wise to what has happened to them and are not allowed to be brain-washed by preachers / family members which our own limp-wristed government won't dare contradict.

Yet it's carried out by Christians in some countries . That would suggest it's due (at least partly) to non-religious influences.

Typical racist PH opinion, just because she's from North of the wall there's no need for derogatory language and casting doubt on her personal hygiene.

No such thing as MGM. Regardless of it being right or wrong, it isn't mutilation. If it was, there wouldn't be literally tens of millions of men not remotely bothered that they'd been "mutilated".

Are the women who've been cut all that bothered, I mean I'm not in anyway defending it but they're having parties to do it to their daughters.... so you know, it's a fair question.

Some have voiced that it does bother them massively, I suspect some might wonder what all the fuss is about based on what you have never had, you dont miss but there is a lot more exposure to sexual knowledge than there was so there may be a lot that are now wondering what they have been missing and cursing whatever medical issues they have got in return.

Its like blokes having their glans cut off, but that wouldn't ever happen as procreation may be a little difficult and you need to make lots of lovely babies

Hang on! There have been many millions of women who are not bothered that they've been "mutilated". So not-bothered are they, that they happily take their daughters through the same "mutilation".

We do the subject of male circumcision every year or so on PH. And each time, some ordinarily right-on PHers discard their principles and say: "oh, that's different. It's OK for male children to be abused, even though they are unable to consent and it's irreversible."

When its so culturally accepted, its hard to stick your hand up and say "Hey, I've been mutilated".

Female Genital Mutilation is worse. For sure. Some of the things I've read that they do to the poor girls is beyond words.

But chopping off bits of a new-born boys penis, out of culture or religion, is also barbaric.

Medical need aside; is there many 'uncut' man who'd choose to lose their foreskin?

It's also a distraction to be arguing if this is confined to one religion or another. They've all got their weird practices, so I'd just rather we got rid of the whole bloody lot. Too much to hope the world grows the fk up and stops believing in lunacy.

Some very interesting stuff on this thread.

It's evident many people think male circumcision is perfectly acceptable. To be honest until FGM was put on the agenda I wouldn't have thought twice about it.

All goes to illustrate that these matters are more complex then they first appear.

I would definitely agree that FGM seems to have some different levels to it.

IIRC one study showed that in Sub-Saharan Africa the HIV rate is lowered slightly.

The reason they couldn't reproduce the results somewhere like the UK is that we have access to basic hygiene and therefore don't benefit from cutting our bits off.
Nope, it's because hiv can enter the body through the mucous membrane under the foreskin. Circumcision removes that membrane and gives you dick protection.

Tell her your son will have immense pleasure if he retains his forskin :-) It's there for a reason. Would she remove her labia if you said they were stinky and flappy? Of course not.

But of course not having unprotected sex with people at risk of HIV is probably a better bet than chopping off bits of your willy.

On the subject of MGM, there's always some regurgitator who brings up the African beliefs that it reduces the chances of contracting HIV. There's a number of scientific studies that dispute this http://preventdisease.com/news/14/072114_Benefits-..., along with more general stats that show how America (one of the most prolific baby dick cutting countries in the developed world) has a significantly higher HIV rate compared with countries that don't routinely mutilate eight day old babies.

And even if it was the case that it did reduce the chances of getting infected, surely that's not a reason anyone here would choose to irrevocably damage their son's genitals. Far more preferable to educate them on safe sex practices.

In addition it became practice in Africa long before HIV was even known about, all this nonsense is just retrospective justification in order to carry on their ignorant ritualistic nonsense.

Here's a video of an African MGM party - utter savages, although at least they wait until the man is consenting, unlike Muslims and Jews. He takes it like an absolute boss.
