If the plummeting pound was a good thing, isn't this awful news? Think of our poor exporters frown

Seriously though, good to see things recovering as "hard Brexit" looks less and less likely.

Once again, is binary your only way of thinking?

Lol. Well funny to see Project Fear getting it wrong over and over again!

Behind the scenes, free from political theatre for the plebs, a Norway-like Brexit-EU deal for the UK is already agreed in principle. Negotiations are going well. Norway is +65% richer than the UK. Norway thrives outside the EU vampire squid. Like Switzerland, Jersey and many others.

Pro-Europe "big business" in the UK keep a getting it wrong, decade after decade, from Hitler to the Euro to Brexit Project Fear.

UK employment is now booming, real wages are starting to jump again, the Pound is returning to strength, the FTSE is soaring to record highs, the City of London continues to obliterate all its EU and global competition, while UK GDP growth will surprise to the upside and hit 2-3% this year.

The silent majority continues to ignore Project Fear and the pseudo-intellectual dinner-party maniac teeth-suckers.

It's hilarious wink

Norway is in the EEA, which involves the four freedoms I believe. Are you claiming that is where the UK will end up?

It's a function of the falling $ and the recovery of the European economy and a correction from the overselling of the £ post the Brexit vote when the market bought into project fear.

It's becoming more apparent by the month that although the UK has experienced additional inflation, due to currency impacts, the underlying economy is strong and will grow far more than project fear suggested.

I've said for a long time, Brexit isn't that big a deal compared to what else is going on in the world. The Euro is doing OK right now but that could go tits up in a day if the wrong result happens in Italy, so its far from out of the woods yet.

£ now at 1.4236 up 1.74% now

That took some effort to get Brexit in there for the JLR story. The main driver is uncertainty with regards to future diesel use legislation, i suspect we are likely to see year on year changes in vehicle sales due to other factors like young people not learning to drive and the shift to Uber and similar services, that negate the need to own a car for people in cities.

At least we don't have the problems they have on the mainland with unions and employees starting to show their muscle to disrupt production. They have been striking in Germany, not that you would know from the news you get fed. https://uk.motor1.com/news/227452/audi-bmw-strikes...

Car manufacturers blaming Brexit is tosh; they should look at themselves for being massively behind the electric revolution curve. No one in their right mind will buy a new diesel now; you watch though in two years there will be a sales boom as people jump on the electric bandwagon.

The problem is there are car buyers who need the qualities that diesels give, high torque with fuel economy , if you tow there is nothing comparable , there will be a lot of people out there undecided what to buy who truthfully would buy a diesel if they knew diesel had a future.

It's what usually happens when you get full employment, Labour starts to use its muscle to drive up wages.

This is what happened just before the st hit the fan in the 70's and was the driver for Globalisation, to remove the power of Labour.

In France and Germany in particular, they kept their unions and strong labour protections, it's going to be interesting to see how Macron gets on with his attempts to do a Thatcher.

Communist BBC! They've made a mistake putting a positive Brexit story on the front page i.e. Cameron has been recorded saying things aren't as bad as he thought.

I take it all the comments about the BBC's lack of accurate reporting don't apply to the second screenshot? Only when it suits? laugh
