My believer friend was claiming man-made climate change was responsible for the floods and heavy rain in the UAE last week

Cloud seeding!
So humanity can control the local weather - but did the result match expectations?

And if they had not seeded the cloud (and claimed the success kudos for doing so) , where would that moisture have ended up?

Whose water supply did they hijack?

The Beebs CC fairy story for today !!

Higher temperatures linked to EU asylum figures

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-4244...

Sharp increases in the numbers of those seeking asylum in the European Union have been linked to higher temperatures in agricultural regions of the world.
Researchers found that when temperatures deviated from 20C in food growing areas of 103 countries, more people sought refuge abroad.
Around 660,000 extra applicants would be expected each year by 2100, the authors say, if current temperature trends continue...............continues

Full of guessing and assumptions!!!!

Interesting that they also noted colder temperatures have much the same effect.

I suppose one would have to read the paper to see how it addressed all of the other factors that might have led to a large number of people migrating to locations that just happen to be what we call "wealthier" and tend not to have historic indigenous underlying birthrates that put social pressures on the existing population.

What would surely be for more challenging in the circumstances is likely to be population growth in Africa it, as predicted by many, another 4billion humans originate there and take on the wildlife for somewhere to live by the end of the century. This would be especially true if they attempt to "equalise" living standards with the currently "developed" parts of the world form what would in many places be a "standing start".

Alternatively "social mobility" might simply see worldwide standards evolving to settle somewhere in the middle of how we think of them now.

Cool, let's blame our political misdeeds on weather.

Also, not for the first or the last time, they'll foolishly confuse correlation with causation.

It's inevitable when there's actuallyno causality around in anything related to the faith, and the lack of it destroys agw bunk.

If the UK is hit by a mini ice age then it's all OK, it was explicitly predicted by those glorious climate models laugh

Based on numerous media reports there's yet more snow yet again this winter, in yet another bitterly cold winter, we really are at Viner levels of rare and exciting silly

BKK was going to see a low of 18 deg C this month but has so far managed 17 which is rather chilly for the Thai capital. Thank goodness for global warming.

Seems it's a bit chilly in North America too.

Or, as the BBC headline makes out, "brutal" cold.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-42506726

Weather can be so interesting in many ways.

Very much so. Even non-weather can be interesting if you're of a mind that's interested in fakery, as per the jetwash that caused a momentary spike in readings from the temperature sensor so conveniently positioned at Heathrow airport. According to breathless believers at the time it was a record of some sort (not) and it wasn't weather or climate either. With that sort of attitude and track record the faithful deserve to have the psss taken for every snowflake, and not just the left-liberal variety inhabiting safe climate spaces.

Uh-oh, CO2 from cars is going up for the first time since 2003 due to the growing anti-diesel sentiment making drivers return to good old petrol.

http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/lifestyle/motoring/sl...

I'll take CO2 emissions over diesel particulates any day of the week but for the government and green blob this must be a real rock and a hard place moment. I wonder what idiocy they'll come up?

Very interesting indeed.

About time this discussion became more mainstream.

Probably won't, since Judith Curry is not an actual 'Climate Scientist' is she.

Big Oil somewhere surely?
