Jesus Christ, he's not been arrested and locked up without trial - he's being investigated for breaking election laws, specifically:

"Canada Elections Act defines “third party” as a group engaging in partisan activity, “that promotes or opposes a registered party or eligible party or the election of a potential candidate, nomination contestant, candidate or leader of a registered party.”"
Isn't that everyone who says or does anything during an election campaign?

Everyone who posts on PH would be a "third party" under that rule, as would anyone who voices an opinion via any means.

What you quoted there isn't a law, it's a definition of what or who is a "third party".

What we need to see is what a "third party" is not allowed to do and the law relating to that.

35 years ago when I first came to Britain I would say "No that's okay. We often sound very similar, but I am from Canada" (with the smallest hint of prideful superiority).

These days I have decided to work harder on developing a British accent.
If I can avoid the question being asked, I can avoid feeling the need to tell a lie.

Oh dear. Justin has been a naughty boy!

Now he's being investigated for his third ethics violation. What's all this about, then? Well, it appears that Justin's family have been receiving lots of money from a government-funded charity signed off by Justin. eek

I can't say I've much experience with Justin, but the clips in this video are incredible. He simply refuses to answer how much money in total his family have received, with the most transparent, risible, distraction techniques. He is asked again, and again, and again, in the clearest possible terms. Not once does he give any kind of answer whatsoever.

I've never felt such contempt for anyone. It's an absolute fking disgrace!

He now appears to be proroguing parliament. yikes.

His dad would be so proud.

He’s turning Canada into Cuba they can’t afford to eat.

I'm not sure how it works in Canada, can his party dump him and still retain power like the conservatives dud with Thatcher?

He must be their biggest liability by now.

As with all politicians there is a skill to not answering a question. I would have folded early on and given a number.

TBH with the amount of dressing up and black face he's done, he probably should be knelt down asking for forgiveness...

I have no idea how the guy continues to get away with it all.

I doubt very much that his party would have the courage for such a move.

I, for one, can ignore the foolishness of youth, it's the blatant lies and deceit and illiberal laws his party has pushed through over the years that disturb me. Constant attacks on freedom of expression and the rights of parents.
He has been in bed with CCP owned businesses for years hosting $1000/plate dollar access dinners with them.
The astonishing thing is that he is at least as guilty of the very things that they accused his predecessor of, and the reasons that so many people wanted the Conservatives out.

Anyone familiar with his mother's history will not be surprised at her having her snout buried in the trough right along with the rest of them.

Never let a good crisis go to waste.

A truly ghastly individual who is about to launch another idealistic wave of reforms to close down the energy industry, launch a minimum wage payable to everybody, make it all green, make drugs free, and in some miraculous way extract massive amounts of tax from anyone who has a dime. He will launch this "vision" next month...possibly lose a confidence vote in parliament.

On the other hand, he might win it, and then there will be a convention for the Conservatives to elect a leader better than the dullard they have and then the fight will begin.

As I said above; I doubt his party will have the courage to join in to remove him.
They, like most political parties, love power over truth and justice.

Though in fairness, last year two of his cabinet took a strong stance and 'resigned'.
But that they resigned and the remainder of the party stayed all but silent speaks volumes.

Oh well, looks like his despicable attempts to dodge the question proved ultimately pointless.

Sad truth is, reducing carbon emissions is going to suck a lot for first world economies used to mass consumption.

No idea if it’s the worst ever but it will at least make the hall of fame. The Economist last week rated Canada as the most likely modern economy to come out of Covid with the worst debt problem.
