Goaty Bill, can't help applauding you as you speak for a whole lot of Canadians.
I've been travelling to Canada for over 40 years and have many close friends there
(also some who admit they made the mistake of votilng liberal),
And they all want to p*** on gaysox truedumb!!!

He's f+++++d up Canada like no-one before him and probably is the worst ever PM Canada has ever had... even PQ would've been better!?!?!
At least PQ wouldn't have stolen our legally held, licensed hunting gear etc....
Yet they re-elected him?

Indeed.

It regularly amuses me when anecdotal comments are give, forgetting the way votes went. Happens here, the US etc. Western style democracy eating itself.

(FWIW JT seems like a bellend to me).

You only need look as far as the distribution of constituencies across the country to determine how it happens that Liberal governments get elected. Not to forget that Canada has an elected senate as well. Both of which are much over-represented on a per capita basis in Quebec. Quebec being the province that receives the biggest handouts in multiple forms from the contributions of the other provinces.
Vote in a French speaking Liberal and your chances as a Quebecoise of receiving even greater handouts has long been perceived to be assured; whether that be true or untrue.

The Liberals did not gain a majority in the last election. Not even close, but they've had the dedicated support of the strongly socialist NDP party since that election. In British Columbia, the provincial Liberal party has changed its name so as to distance itself from the federal Liberals.

You might compare the whole thing to the period of the industrial revolution period in Britain; the 'production' occurs in the west (as compared to the north), the money all ends up in the east (as compared to London).

The initial election of Trudeau was a combination of a playboy supply teacher trading on his father's name and a vote against the very unpopular leader of the Conservatives.

In any case, and I accept that your comments may well not have been directed at me, my 'anecdotal' statements are quite factual and require only a few moments use of google (other search engines are available) to confirm.

My proposition would be, quite simply; some people are historically or ideologically attached to a certain party and will always vote for them, others simply hate the other party/parties and will always vote against them, then there are others who either have come to hate the current party or the leader or feel the need for punishing for current mistakes/failures and will vote against them.
Very few people really think about why they should or shouldn't vote for a particular party.
I would never vote Labour myself, yet I can understand why many people would vote against the Tories.
I think we all have our own calculations for 'the lesser of two evils'.
