New initiative from Trump, coal fired cars.
Ah, so that is his strategy for getting jobs back into the coal industry! You nailed it.
I've always hankered after a Stanley Steamer...
I guess we'll see. The Model X was very late too and they're still suffering fallout for all the faults their production model introduced, but no-one generally seems too bothered.
But continued cockup on their mass model is going to be a lot more public.
What will really screw them though isn't being late, it would be if they can't build at a profit or if they have quality issues and a mass recall. Especially if they follow their current 'continuous improvement' model and have lots of different build standards to contend with all mixed up.
It's not that it absolutely can't work but they still have a nasty habit of ignoring hard-won experience and overselling what they can do. Fine for a startup, not so good for a mass market firm building expensive consumer goods.

I admire their enthusiasm and burning need to get EVs out in to the market place. But I do think they need to calm it down... Take a bit more time, get the cars right, build them right and don't try to rush things.
People want want want now now now but that instant gratification monkey won't stay pleased for long if the car has been slapped together badly or attempts to ramp production too fast end in further delays.
I know they're trying to get there before everyone else. Once the big players arrive they will have better cars (in general, because they've been doing cars a lot longer) than Tesla. At the same time, they need to avoid shooting themselves in the foot. Tough balancing act.
5000/week in Q1 2018... Wishful thinking imo. They need to manage expectations a bit better. 500-1000 a week might be more like it, whilst making sure things are built right so we don't end up with endless YouTube videos of people moaning about rattles and wonky bits of trim.

Interesting. IIRC UK deliveries aren't until 2019, of course that doesn't rule out a personal import of a (very rare!) US car or company demonstrator/mule...
That is interesting. I am 100% certain it was a Model 3.Perhaps it was a press car - being used by the motoring press? Or, given Cambridge links to hi-tech, it might be a test vehicle for a tech company connected to Tesla somehow.
I don't think any development is done in the UK. IIRC it's pretty much all in house other the autopilot computer.
I'm pretty sure none have been sold on yet. One appeared for sale massively over list, but was taken down as it was an employee car (they are not allowed to sell on for a premium).
I'm not saying you didn't see one, but it seems highly unlikely that any are on the roads in the UK yet.

I was in a slow moving line of traffic, and it was on the other side of the road to me also moving slowly. Definitely had the Tesla logo, bluff front end, and I commented to my car mad son "Look, a model 3, first one I've seen." He saw it and concurred.
I'm beginning to question myself now! And just googled white Model X's, but it really wasn't one of them - I've seen plenty.
A bit of a mystery!
Update!
There is a white one here - filmed in Milton Keynes - that would tie in perfectly with where I saw it - on the road you would take if going from MK to Cambridge.

Phew! Started to question my Car-Fu there for a bit...

Tesla's valued like a dotcom company which is fair enough to an extent given the tech element to their business but they're going to live and die based on their ability to manufacture these cars in anticipated volumes and as importantly make them to a standard that won't alienate customers and result in huge amounts of warranty claims. Going to be a very interesting next 12 months. I have no clue about these things but I doubt very much the current problems are something they can fix easily.

No offense to you Banana but what kind of tragic fanboi makes a video like that? And it's definitely an X not a 3.There is a white one here - filmed in Milton Keynes - that would tie in perfectly with where I saw it - on the road you would take if going from MK to Cambridge.

Considerable efforts are being undertaken to restore power in Puerto Rico. Most coverage has been pessimistic focusing on challenging logistics and contentious issues with very little upbeat coverage on progress so far. There is one major exception to this trend, the efforts of Elon Musk and Tesla have enjoyed glowing coverage.

Do they? Surely that's in escrow? If not there must be some nervous CC companies........
That sounds contradictory. If it's 'held' in cash, which sounds like they can't touch it, how is it a liability?
If it's on the BS as a liability the implication is that they're using it, isn't it?
