I live at just over 900ft in the Scottish Borders, local forecast is for 200mm of snow by 10am. It's now 9:59 and just seeing some flakes of snow in amongst the rain. I doubt whether it'll happen.
The local council has already (yesterday) cancelled all school transport in the region based on the forecast. I suspect there are a lot of angry parents and embarrassed council officials around.

A report has just flooded in that a wheelie bin fell over into a puddle in Sheffield.

There may be another one later. This is getting serious now.

Probably the only place sun was forecast.....

I'm near Wolverhampton and we have a bit of wind, nothing more, not even cold. Mind you, our bird table thing blew over, but it did that last week, and the week before.

Wouldn't surprise me at all. You see "Gritting" signs everywhere but never any gritters. Thank you Tories.

I live not far from you. I was out walking on the hillside before breakfast this morning and a 3 foot long branch flew past me at about 15 miles per hour.

My dog was carrying it. hehe

Looks like a great day for going for a drive. I can see why they all did it rather than decide to stay at home and do something else instead rolleyes

My son was supposedly travelling from Lancaster to London for an interview - got as far as Warrington before the train ground to a halt. Apparently there is damage to powerlines between Warrington and Crewe which has brought the whole line to a halt, and even where it is running there is a 50mph restriction frown

Now he's just trying to get home and do the interview via Skype

laugh

Usual Tory bashing from MP.
I guess all the councils responsible for gritting are Tory controlled!

It should be MuppetPhantom, not MarshPhantom.

KTF. You do realise that even up here, we have work to go to. Getting there can involve using cars, you also expect that since the news stations have been powerwking themselves into a coma about this storm and the snow etc.

That, maybe, just maybe, one of the main motorways in Central Scotland would have been gritted and had plows ready to deal with it. Given the same area came to a halt during the last proper snow event in 2010.

M8 was a car park for a while, but it's now moving again.
The snow has turned to drizzle, so i expect it to bugger off soon.
