Interesting article in Politico today on how illegal immigration over the Mexican border is down 40% since he took office, despite little to nothing actually having been done on the ground yet to reduce it. Families with children down 90%. Seems simply talking about giving the illegals a harder time has been enough to put many off.
Wow. Imagine that. It's almost as if he watched Merkel saying "everyone welcome" and have millions pour in and thought "perhaps I'll say the opposite".

"I loved my previous life. I had so many things going," Trump told Reuters in an interview. "This is more work than in my previous life. I thought it would be easier."

I listened to a recording of that. It's genuinely amazing, because it is crystal clear that he really had no idea what he was getting himself into. It's as if for him, the biggest thing was winning the election, and he never really focussed on what would follow that if he did.

I can't say I have much sympathy for him now.

judging by his victory speech and body talk it looked like he just wanted to have some fun roasting H & other democrats during the campaign and never thought he'd actually win...

He is still obsessed with the election. This is one of the most pathetic things I've ever read....

In the middle of his interview with Reuters, Trump paused to pass out copies of a map he had on hand. The map showed the United States, colored with the results of the 2016 election. “It’s pretty good, right?” he asked the Reuters team.

I was saying for months before the election that he had no desire at all to be prez, he just craves adulation. Hence why he's still holding rallies long after he's won.

Maybe they just think America looks properly st at the moment and would rather stay in Mexico?

Maybe that's the answer - make your country less attractive to illegals than their own and watch your illegal immigration problem evaporate. hehe

He can only hear praise. Everything else is just noise.

He is now an unmatched success because a Fox News reporter said so. laugh

None of the above matters one iota if

(a) His core supporters don't believe it and call it fake News; OR
(b) His core supporters don't care; OR
(c) He can convince them that he ACTUALLY has done something.

So far his core support hasn't dropped much, if at all. He's proven that bullst works.

"I thought it would be easier"

This is becoming a repeated phrase during this administration. See also; the healthcare nonsense. And I'm sure something similar re; Syria recently?

Oh, and the immigration / muslim ban.

It's not his core supporters who count. They will never top 40% of the electorate. As ever in democracy, you always have to persuade the waverers.

He did it last time. There's nothing so far to indicate he won't be able to do it again. It's not what he actually achieves that matters, it's what his supporters (and the waverers) think he's achieved that matters. They believed him on the Birther issue, the believed him on the Wall issue, they'll believe whatever he sells them in 2020. A big chunk of Americans are stupid, it's that simple.

This is a good article from politico, using 3rd part commentators

http://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2017/04/28/...

Long read but if you can get through it all .... gems to be found. The fact is, as I will say again, America wanted change, and they have an independent capitalist in power rather than the slowly diverting from each other "swamp" of Debs and GOP. And debs and GOP and the media and even his supporters are having a hard time understanding this quake like change.

He's not blown the country up yet and seems quite flexible (too flexible it seems, or not) so lets see how it goes on; it's a new path and nobody knows if this new path will be deliverance or disaster. He is the snake oil / gold mine salesman. I'm not saying that because I support him, but I say that because that is what is happening.

The media aspect of this is still worrying me, seems the viewer has to spend more and more time distilling the chaff from the wheat. Did our grandparents have to do so? The times we live in.

Everyone likes to vote nowadays now on the first 100 days (why?) so my vote would be boringly average but in a media pumped, both ways, exciting way.

when did he say he would do all those in first 100 days?

I'll take your first one, repeal Obamacare, if Donald could do it with an executive order it would have been done by now, hecan't.

So who's to blame on it not passing? The GOP lead house and leader took the initiative and Trump backed it up but the far right Freedom Caucus stopped it - even though GOP had a house majority.

So why do you put fail against him rather than them?
