45th President of the United States, Donald Trump. Vol 2
Discussion
There are many times more people involved in the renewable energy business here than there are in coal. US business leaders almost unanimously agreed that Trump is wrong to withdraw from Paris. Trump wants to roll back the CAFE standards that the motor industry has been working towards for a decade. That won't happen because it's too advanced and even if it wasn't US manufacturers would be crazy to go down a path that makes their products unacceptable to the rest of the world. For all Trump's ludicrous claims about German car manufacturers the biggest exporter of US built cars is BMW. MB also have a huge modern plant in Vance AL that makes and exports GLE's and GLS's all over the world.
Trump's posturing will actually count for little but plays to the xenophobic beliefs and tendencies of his core supporters.

Of course she didn't... Havent been reading this thread much so sorry if im late to the party but this paris thing typifies trump.v.the civilised world.
Honestly, I prefer his bloody minded obtrusiveness to the virtue signalling, double dealing corrupness of many out there, thats why he appeals to people I think. He's ugly and nasty but he wears it rather than pays lip service and does what he wants behind your back, and that kind of attitude really grates all those fawning and commenting the emporer on his lovely new robes, because he reminds them what thinly vieled charlatans they are and i wonder how many are deeply jealous.

I think option (c) points to much deeper issues. It's not just his desire to undo everything Obama did, although that's certainly there, I think it's that he genuinely believes he's the best deal maker who has ever lived, so his ego will simply not allow him to accept that any deal he wasn't personally involved in could ever be good. How could it be? He wasn't involved, and he's the best deal maker.
NAFTA? He wasn't involved, therefore it's a poor deal.
ACA? He wasn't involved, therefore it's a poor deal. Doubly so "because Obama".
Defeating IS? Military plans thus far not working because he wasn't involved.
Paris Accord? See ACA.
Mmm...Very true.NAFTA? He wasn't involved, therefore it's a poor deal.

I wonder how his promise to 'defeat ISIS in 30 days' is coming along?

to be fair USA is doing much better than UK at preventing ISIS attacks lately
How can you possibly know that? And does it really matter? they kill themselves in the tens of thousands per year because everyone and their nan has a gun and just presumably gets bored with not killing people so much that they have to go and do it.

They have their regular gun violence however it's clearly not the same. And does it really matter? they kill themselves in the tens of thousands per year because everyone and their nan has a gun and just presumably gets bored with not killing people so much that they have to go and do it.

Terrorist attacks have always been more prevalent in Europe compared to the US - mainly because of the social and demographic and political mixes you have always had in Europe.
9/11 took more victims than all terrorist attacks in Europe combinedBut even taking the sheer numbers of casualties into account, deaths attributed to terrorist activities have been higher in Europe for a long time.
Terrorism due to Irish Nationalism in the British Isles alone exceeded the total of the 9/11 attack. When you include decades of separatist and radical movements in France, Spain, Italy and Germany, you can see that the frequency of such attacks has been higher in Europe.
