I think I've got a pretty good handle on it. AFTER you win, your job is to get re-elected.
Nope - you've confirmed what I thought.

The strange thing is that Trump probably thinks the same way you do. Winning is everything. Actually doing the job he was elected to do is of no real significance to him.

By whom? Repeal and replace Obamacare: by Republicans in the Senate.

Travel ban: by the law.

If you pick battles you simply can't win, it's pointless to whine about not winning.

Bigly pointless.

He is incompetent and doesn't know how to manage the enactment of his policies. He has a majority in every branch of government and he STILL can't get things done. He is worse than useless.

Let's get this straight.

A politicians job is to get elected,
Yes, let's get this straight.

A politician's job is to do the thing he or she has been elected to do. Election is a stepping stone to the actual work.

At some point if you post often enough you might get something right in this thread.
Coyft seems to have a basic misunderstanding of the purpose of the democratic system. It's not just about trying to win. It's also about what you do AFTER you win.
Quite. And it is exactly the same misunderstanding that drives Trump to hand out pictures of his electoral college map instead of try to govern effectively.

Why bother, it's Bianco. Whatever Trump says, Trump is the right(!). It's the bad MSM/Elites/Russians/FBI/CIA/Clintons/Lefties who are preventing the biggest and best and most beautiful things that Trump wants for the benefit of Americans.

It's all just ok say the Trumpettes

Cheri Jacobus said an interesting thing yesterday, that the FBI are als investigating Trumps team over the catfishing
http://www.politico.com/story/2016/08/anti-trump-o...

http://www.palmerreport.com/opinion/donald-trump-g...

So may avenues of investigation...

Let's not forget KellyAnne Conway tweeted in October 2016 "Most honest people I know are not under FBI investigation, let alone two," "If you’re under your 2nd FBI investigation in the same year then you do have a … corruption & an ethics problem.”

“Can this country afford to have a president under investigation by the FBI? Think of the trauma that would do to this country. Marco Rubio, November 1, 2016

Trump Tweet "I am being investigated for firing the FBI director by the man who told me to fire the FBI director. Witch Hunt"

I mean, russian intervention, russian business links, Obstruction of justice, money laundering through his casino's, Trumps funding of his real estate business from Russian linked to organized crime or maybe just as simple as funnelling money through his real estate business. I mean how did a russian on a $75k salary keep buying Trump Condo's to a value of $8m
http://www.miamiherald.com/news/local/community/mi...

And then his lying: "I have no dealings with Russia. I have no deals that could happen in Russia, because we’ve stayed away. And I have no loans with Russia. I have no loans with Russia at all."
Yet in 2013, after Trump addressed potential investors in Moscow, he bragged to Real Estate Weekly about his access to Russia's rich and powerful. “I have a great relationship with many Russians, and almost all of the oligarchs were in the room,” Trump said, referring to Russians who made fortunes when former Soviet state enterprises were sold to private investors.

Trump Junior “Russians make up a pretty disproportionate cross section of a lot of our assets in places like Dubai and Trump SoHo and elsewhere in New York."

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/world/2017/03/...

No wonder it's taking time for the investigations - there's so much to uncover.

And lets not worry about that Emoluments Clause of the Constitution, I mean his totally ignored it so far, continuing to make money for his business empire.

How about a “reelection” fundraiser at his own Trump International Hotel in Washington DC

A politicians job is to get elected,
No, it isn’t. That might be their sole intention/aim/ambition. That’s not their job.
coyft said:
they will say and do anything to achieve that end. Once elected they will say and do anything to retain power.
They may well do that. But, again, that’s not why they were elected. That’s why politicians have a manifesto.

A media company exists for the benefit of its shareholders. Its job is to maximise profits or an agenda for its owners. Being fair and balanced doesn't come into it.
The two things aren’t mutually incompatible. It’s quite possible for profits to be maximised whilst at the same time being fair and balanced. Equally it’s possible to maximise profits by appealing to the swivel-eyed loon brigade

And you call Trump supporters stupid...
Yes, I do. Not all of them, just a significant proportion. The type who think Infowars and Breitbart are “Fact” for example….

Absurd hyperbole. Nixon was impeached and stood down at just about the most tense period in the Cold War and amidst the 70s energy crisis. Nothing happened.

Well done for getting in an anti-Muslim kick too btw.
You obviously don't know your history very well. The 1973/74 period was actually the time of a relaxation in the Cold War. "Détente" was the buzz word of the day - Nixon was signing nuclear arms limitation agreements with the Soviets, was organising America's withdrawl from Vietnam and had visited China and met Mao. Also, the first ever joint USA/Soviet Union space flight (the Apollo Soyuz Test Project) was in an advance stage of planning. It actually happened in 1975, the year after Nixon had resigned - but it was Nixon's baby.

The Cold War ramped up later on in the early 1980s chiefly because of the US's objection to the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan and later Ronald Regan's "Star Wars" policy.
Well, that's me told!

What the US does affects us all.

For example - Trump recently announced that Syria was planning further chemical attacks. Our own Defence Secretary immediately jumped in to say that we would support the US in any actions they take. Standing shoulder to shoulder with a complete wucckfit isn't (IMHO) a clever, sensible place to be. Our ME policy (such as it is) is massively flawed. And people who can't see the bleedin' obvious deserve condescension.

I read that Trump has a button on his desk that orders him a Coca Cola whenever he likes. If true it is like Homer Simpson has entered the White house!
To be fair, if I was president, i would have something similar.

But on tap, chocolate pipe, fizzy water. Then liquorice rope, and cake. Lots of cake.
I don't see the Coca-Cola thing as weird, its strange the context that this appears to be in?

Trump has repeatedly stated that he is completely teetotal. Many other presidents will have had a bottle of something stronger in the Oval Office to drink whenever they wanted, so DT having a nice cold coca-cola whenever he wants is no different at all. The only difference is that by having the button, it avoids him having to have a fridge in the Oval with him all the time.

If I were President I'd probably have a fridge stocked up all the time with beers, soft drinks, and one of those nice coffee machines. All on the taxpayer... suckers.

Not just a fridge, a pin ball machine and a Wurlitzer. However, I hope the coke button is labelled different to the nuke button.

Only 2 letters different...

Picture if you can, Kim-Jong and his mates all preparing for nuclear winter, but instead getting showered in Atlanta's finest...

Think a program had a figure of around 50 million pre Obama care (ten years or more ago?). It was following pop up clinics around the poorer area's of the US. Each day the clinics were inundated with people that were desperate for medical aid.

His "muslim ban" means I'm not willing to risk spending £10k-£12k on a holiday to Disney World. Is that specific enough?
.
On a wider scale his policies in the ME are making the world a much more dangerous place. We are going to have more refugees, more terrorist attacks, and more conflict. That has an adverse impact on my life.

Also if and when when the Wuckfit-in-Chief makes a State Visit I'm going to have to take a day's annual leave so I can bare my arse at his motorcade when he drives past.
