45th President of the United States, Donald Trump. Vol 2
Discussion

Washington Post has just broken that Jeff Sessions indeed had substantive discussions with the Russians about Trump positions on policy in April 2016..
Sessions has of course recused himself, but this is quite a big deal I think...........
Russia’s ambassador to Washington told his superiors in Moscow that he discussed campaign-related matters, including policy issues important to Moscow, with Jeff Sessions during the 2016 presidential race, contrary to public assertions by the embattled attorney general, according to current and former U.S. officials.Sessions has of course recused himself, but this is quite a big deal I think...........
Ambassador Sergey Kislyak’s accounts of two conversations with Sessions — then a top foreign policy adviser to Republican candidate Donald Trump — were intercepted by U.S. spy agencies, which monitor the communications of senior Russian officials both in the United States and in Russia. Sessions initially failed to disclose his contacts with Kislyak and then said that the meetings were not about the Trump campaign.
So the Russians haven't been given what they were promised for the assistance and are ramping up the pressure slowly, hence the number of leaks about meetings.
Kusher failed to disclose several of his financial holdings. His disclosure form has been updated 39 times since march, along with his undisclosed meetings with russians...

Is any of that actually illegal?https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/kushner-fa...

For example, Kushner failed to disclose documents. My first thought is "So what?". Is it just good practice to disclose, or is it a legal requirement? Trump didn't disclose his tax returns. The US electorate didn't care.
The point that I'm making is - Donny Jr met with some Russians, Kushner hsn't declared some assets, Ivanka is still making a fortune from outside interests..... So what?
If people want to get rid of Trump they need to focus on things that people care about, e.g. Point out the billions in tax rebates which will result from TrumpCare,.

The article states disclosure is required in order to comply with (unspecified) federal ethics laws. The tax returns publishing thing is different, that's just a long-established convention to voluntarily demonstrate to the public an absence of impropriety. Trump feels no obligation to be transparent to the public in this way.
A good chunk of the electorate do care about his tax returns. He promised he would publish them, and some of those who voted for him may have hoped he would. Probably the vast majority of his followers don't care though. They don't seem to care about anything at all other than fking over Dems and liberals.

"Unspecified" being the key word here (IMO). If the MSM keep going on and on about violations of unspecified laws, and then it turns out the laws are pretty vague/mediocre for Trumpkins to be prosecuted it's a masive victory for Trump. He will boast loudly about Fake News and his gullible acolytes will lap it up, so it becomes totally counterproductiveminimoog said:

In summary, Trump's a dodgy sleazebucket and his voters don't care. A good chunk of the electorate do care about his tax returns. This is the sort of story that should be getting more publicity because this is what the ordinary american would understand better

It doesn't matter. People will only hear what they want to hear. The lady in that article is probably no different to any of the other people in the Rust Belt who voted for Trump. His core support is still rock solid. Anything in that article would be dismissed as FAKE NOOZ.http://www.newyorker.com/news/news-desk/what-its-l...

Let's be honest - I think a large number of people recognised that Trump was (and is) a complete and utter liar. And he just shouts and shouts when somebody points out the truth until the people doing the shouting get bored and go away.
Nothing fundamental has changed since the election. And I cant see it changing over the next 3 and a half years.

It sounds like this Scaramucci fellow has drunk deep from the Trump Kool Aid fountain.
"The President himself is always going to be the President. I was in the Oval Office with him earlier today, and we were talking about letting him be himself, letting him express his full identity," he said.
"I think he's got some of the best political instincts in the world, and perhaps in history."
(From CNN). Mildly troubling if we've been seeing a watered down version of the real Trump so far, but hey ho.
Anyway, these great political instincts (perhaps the best in history). Trump's twitter reaction to the WaPo news that Sessions has been caught in another lie is to say that "illegal leaks" must stop.
Right.
So the real problem is publicising the lies of the Trump administration, and not the, errr, lies of the Trump administration.
And that's a politically smart thing to say, is it?

It's taken him 4 attempts to complete his security form, with the last adding over 100 russian contacts and meetings, remembering that his initial SF-86 declared claimed no meetings with foreign government officials during the presidential campaign and transition.
He then claimed a member of staff hit submit before it was ready, only the form is printed out and has to be signed. It specifically points out what happens if false statements are made.
At no point does that mention a presidential pardon...
So they were so keen to deny russian contacts, despite now we know there were many. And his security clearance gives him access to what the president has, or offers to show him.
So 4 attempts at disclosing his security risks, 39 attempts at disclosing his finances and only making changes when prompted. That's why it's serious.

Regarding political instincts, despite all the polls, despite all the negative publicity, despite the lack of experience, despite the lack of knowledge, and basically despite the fact that he's a complete fukctard he still managed to get elected as POTUS."The President himself is always going to be the President. I was in the Oval Office with him earlier today, and we were talking about letting him be himself, letting him express his full identity," he said.

So I'd say he's got pretty good instincts.
