Good, he should have left a while ago, and the arrogant fker say his experience will be missed, please don't let the door hit you on the way out.
I am inclined to agree.

Hopefully he's also self selected himself for a thinning out of the Lords...

Heseltine always put me in mind of a deflating bag of wind, mind you that description would probably be suitable for quite a few incumbents in the HoLsmile

He has a reputation as a 'bolter' when he can't get his own way. His arrogance from a self-belief of lofty entitlement is legend. Reference the long look back when he walked the length of Downing Street to his waiting car. He was hoping there would be some minion calling him back for 'discussions'. Sorry to disappoint matey, after 40 years you leave in disgrace as a traitor, rep in tatters and nowhere to go. Still, plenty of time to burnish that enviable voting record in the HoL at 2.7%. That's nearly three times out of every hundred divisions. Such hard work for such a wise and able member.

Small 't'. Although come to think deeper about it, what would you call someone who deliberately votes contrary to the country's strategic and sovereign interests (yes, I know, in my view) in pursuance of his own political ends and not least as a result of his own misogyny? In addition, many would say he has betrayed his party by leading a revolt against settled government policy following a massive majority in HoC. Hiding behind false declarations of patriotic conscience is the last refuge.... I think I'll stop thinking deeper about it now - the case is getting stronger!

Oh I see. It's more 'will of the people' stuff then. I thought maybe you had something substantive on him. What do you mean by misogyny? Are you saying he only voted that way because we have a woman PM?

the party line was to support Brexit. He didnt, so was fired. Its the same as when Corbyn's lot refuse to take his party line. Are they fired? Yes, sometimes. Some quit instead and trigger a by-election. Its not really that big news.

Oh, and she is listening: (wait for it...) listening to the majority of the public, who voted to leave the EU. One of the few politicians who do listen to the voters.

I'm sure there's no need for denigrating comment on another's views - that's been the main source of contention and conflict from the start! I'm reasonably sure you know full well the 'will of the people stuff' was what happened at the referendum. The vote in the HoC was the settled will of parliament by a cross-party near-400 majority as a result of the will of the people.

Did you honestly think a nobody like me stood any chance whatsoever of getting anything 'substantive' on him? Or was that just mocking hyperbole?

I'm also equally sure you are aware of what misogyny means although in this case I don't think 'hatred' is relevant. More resentment. I don't think coincidence or animus had any causative effect on the fact that holding subservient roles in the government of two female PM's (and failing to charm either) has resulted in him showing off.

I'm assuming I did not misunderstand your reply. If I did, I apologise!

'traitor' (even with a small 't') is a rather emotive word and one that has been far too freely bandied about of late (in my humble opinion). It was the use of this word that I was questioning. I really don't care much one way or the other over the EU/Brexit but I do care about the use of words like that, as they have the potential to lead to worrying ends.

I was surprised to hear him say this morning that he had never met Teresa May. I would have thought that a PM would have met all the "big beasts" in the governing party within a few months of taking office.
