Basing my deduction on extensive local knowledge (rather than racial stereotyping) I strongly suspect that was the conclusion of a pursuit of a shoplifter.

It's the same thing in G-Hill. The 'one person in the shop at a time' signs are written in their local lingo.

One business, run by old style Italian immigrants has moved lock stock and barrel from Vicky Rd to the Shields, an area of Pakistani immigrants, simply to get away from the current influx and they way they behave. The rest are simply closing down one by one.

It'll be interesting to see what happens in Spain. And how it compares to the various claims of the Nats and cybernats. "Project Fear", "we'll stay a member of the EU", "we'll be first in line to get back in the EU", "fk it, UDI" etc.

I wonder if there's a Catalan news at six.

Which is exactly what the Nats think of us, all that lovely oil money being stolen by Westmonster...

Which is why I can't understand their aversion to fracking. I'm pretty sure oil extraction in the sea is not without environmental risk. What's the difference?

The seabed stuff is out of sight and out of mind so that's OK, bit of a different kettle of fish for a lot of people when it's close to home

That and they need the Greens for support here and there and they vehemently oppose the practice

So according to a poll half of Scots believe the SNP distorted the economic figures to try and persuade people to vote for independence, I am amazed that it is so low, surely everyone knows the figures were made up.

SNP to set up Scottish energy firm..

I'm not sure how the economics of that will work, as there's already significant competition in the market (despite the usual complaints that there isn't).

If it's selling 'Scottish' produced energy then it'll be relatively expensive renewables energy, which genuinely won't appeal or help those on lower incomes (but its a good party conference sound bite), or will the Scottish tax payer be asked to subsidise..

I find Nicola Sturgeon one of the most annoying people alive but this is absolutely genius. If they can set up an efficient energy company they will be able to undercut the competition by a huge margin.

I worked for a large energy firm and the inefficiencies are mind blowing, but its all ok because the public don't have an option but to pay for it.

I agree, but the key word there is "efficient", which is not something typically associated with public ownership.. If it works, great, but the issue is that the Scottish tax payer is on the hook should it fail or become a loss leader. Once set up, the political dimension to it will mean public money will likely be used to prop it up, regardless of realities. A bit like Prestwick unfortunately..

I suspect buying the energy will be the simple bit. The customer service and sales side however....
