What most don't see is that the (very) late new ferries, and aging Calmac fleet (not their fault - they can only run the ships they're given - funding/permission for new ships has to come from Holyrood) is hurting investment, jobs and expansion on the islands, which in the long run will be more damaging than a small shipyard on the Clyde closing.

£92 million, and now an additional £45 million for two ships which aren't anywhere near completion - questions need to be asked how they won the contract over yards in Poland and Germany with proven track records. All the while, the populations of the islands are suffering while Ferguson's/the SNP try to save face.
not likely to see much in the way of party funding/fundraising from poland or germany though.

bd, I was at Hampden yesterday, and will be there tomorrow and she was there today. Still it's good that she's made a visit to her constituency.

Except it wasn't to address its million problems, it was to try and buy the tartan tranny vote. Maybe next time, eh?

If anyone wants to understand how the average nationalists mind works try reading some of the comments on this statement. It is from Historic Environment Scotland explaining why they won't allow the AUOB march to set up stands in their park as the don't allow political events. So the Nats are raging it's a conspiracy and that independence is a philosophy not a political movement. If it wasn't so scary that they walk amongst us it would be hilarious.

At this time of year the as the nights draw in and the leaves start falling from the trees you can always expect to hear the inimitable sound of the can being kicked further down the road....

Nicola Sturgeon has said she may have to wait until November, or even December, to give an update on her plans for a second Scottish independence referendum.

Or even January, or even February, or even March.........

The best thing that could happen is the Scottish electorate gets disinterested with the whole rhetoric that comes from the SNP government and starts to think "Just why should I vote for these failures at all"

Oh hang on, they have!

Gesture politics of the worst sort. No comment required as this is utterly laughable, plus the get-out clause renders the legislation as good a useless. The only people who will comply with this are those wanting to prove a point. It only applies to government bodies so map publishers can ignore this with impunity.

Just wondering how long it will take for the cultists to call for a boycott of the Clydesdale Bank when they refuse to waste their own money re-issuing fivers.

PS. On the subject of gesture politics and the millions spent adding Gaelic text to the liveries of all police cars in Scotland.....

When the alternative is Scottish "we're bigger unionists than the Tories, honest" Labour and Scottish" we'll do as head office tells us but but but fish" Tories, I'd love to see your data supporting your statement of fact

From a self-professed SNP voter.

That's the problem Strocky - the constitutional st is not what people are worried about anymore. Speeches and in-fghting are meaningless when people are feeling the strain on services, and "Wastemonster TOAREE austerity" isn't being accepted as an excuse anymore.

The SNP are fking up royally on their management of services and it is down to basic incompetence rather than policy (or could it be that they never prepared themselves for government as they always considered it secondary to the protest movement of achieving indy?). The people they put in charge are simply not up to the job, hence the revolving door of ministers of key departments.

How long was hopeless Humza in charge of Transport, for example? Angela Constance was in charge of Education and could barely string a coherent sentence together. Before that Mystic Mike Russell breezed in and out and then there was Fiona 'vote of no confidence' Hyslop.

Swinney only has the job now because there was no-one left to take it.

And don't even get me started on Derek 'cannae count' MacKay - the man who makes Diane Abbott look like a university professor.

I have had to edit this to hide the rude word but this sums up nationalism for me, which strocky demonstrates beautifully every time he posts.

Read kvvc's post. The one you quoted. Then read mine.

The fact that you made such a stupid comparison tells us all we need to know tbh.
The SNP have, lest we forget, never won a majority of Scottish votes in any national election.
