Scotland is a country, not a nation.
It does seem unclear ... but it is most definitely not an nation state or independent country

Definitions From google :

Scotland is not an independent country or state, and neither are Wales, Northern Ireland, or England itself. However, Scotland is most certainly a nation of people living in an internal division of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Or

“Scotland, England, Wales, and Northern Ireland are not independent countries but are four somewhat autonomous regions which are part of the country known as the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland or just United Kingdom for short”
Semantics?

Scotland is internationally recognised as a country. Has its own laws, education system, international sports teams, etc.

It’s not a region. Regions don’t have sports teams competing internationally.

It’s not a nation as it’s not got its own army, head of state, etc.

Therefore, to me, Scotland is a country.

To most people it’s a country.

I don't know. Most people don't and that is intentional because it also serves as a secure passageway for arriving/departing heads of state and other people of protected status.

I believe it's nothing special. Just a plain corridor/Stairwell that takes you out to the airfield, it just bypasses the joe public.

Only in her wildest dreams. Even Salmond wouldn't go there - term I've heard is.... 'even the tide wouldn't take her out'
"Not a fan of the Krankies" would have sufficed.

That is quite an incredible charge sheet against him. judge

So if he is found guilty and all those sexual allegations are correct and it turns out oor wee Alex is actually a rampant sex predator, then one could well presume that there is a high probability there will be other women with a story to tell also?

I wonder if nasty Nicky has had any late night encounters she would rather keep secret, they must have spent many long hours together whilst he was First Minister.scratchchin

Is there any chance Sturgeon will have to attend the trial at any point?
As a character witness?

Anyone would think it's a major news story or something.

Who knew that a former Leader of a country, widely known and facing a 4 week court case about potential conduct with women and an alleged attempted rape of a woman would be considered newsworthy?

I mean, I can’t understand it in the slightest.

In an odd coincidence, the man who did take her out and who indeed married her in 2010, Peter Murrell, used to work at the Banff and Buchan office of then-MP and party leader Alex Salmond. That was before he became SNP Chief Executive in 2001 of course.

Breaking my own rule here already. I am a little surprised that none of the charges relate to incidents in Edinburgh Airport, because I know for a fact that some female staff there were advised not to be alone in the VIP corridor with Salmond, before they eventually removed his access to it.

Could of course just be because he had a 'reputation'.

Is that true? Wow.

Where is the VIP corridor?
He doesn't appear to have access to a 'VIP corridor' at Heathrow.

I saw him there on Monday evening waiting for his baggage at T5 domestic arrivals. In fact I heard him before I saw him. He's one of those people who seemingly can't keep a mobile phone conversation private. From about 40 feet away I could hear him quite clearly asking 'David' to 'explain it again from the top'.

I'm not sure if he arrived on the same Aberdeen flight as me or one of the other recent arrivals from Scotland.

I was surprised how big and fat he is. On the TV he looks little and fat.

David is a common name, obviously, but the lawyer who acted for Alex Salmond in the Court of Session at the beginning of this year was David McKie, senior partner at Levy & McRae.

They are going to have some job finding 15 jurors that are unbiased.....I suppose we should be thankful the case isn’t being held in Glasgow!

When he was charged there were some Nat's on Facebook saying that he couldn't possibly be guilty and they wanted to crowdfund his defence.
They stopped short of saying it was all an English conspiracy, but were heading that way

I won't see it live as I'm out tonight, but looking forward to seeing the leader's debate on Question Time this evening. Johnson, Corbyn, Swinson and Sturgeon.

I predict:

BoJo: waffle, Brexit focus, a couple of off the wall comments to distract
Corbyn: no mention of Brexit, much about the rich
Swinson: attempts at finding sensible ground
Sturgeon: anything to drive further wedges into our society
