Although at least BJ can tell Sturgeon to GTF for the next 5 yearslaugh
Hopefully. Was it in the Tory manifesto? UK voted against Indyref if so.
It was in both the manifesto and the last Queen's speech,

I'm expecting the SNP's vote share to be pretty much the same as last time - this is just down to marginals.

Hopefully. My OH hates the Tories so much she voted for the SNP as her seat is a Tory/SNP marginal apparently. She says she struggled desperately with her conscience, but would be disgusted if I voted for the Tories in my constituency.

Oops ... wink
I know someone who feels and did the same as your other half. So that’s one for each of just the two of us.

That’s why the ‘mandate’ cries that will come from Sturgeon tomorrow on what looks on the surface like a good result for them don’t quite stack up.

bks.

Lots of people voting SNP who have no intention of voting for independence.
I was talking to the SNP candidate at our polling station. We are a Cons/SNP marginal. He said he had had people saying they would vote for him as long as he took the message to NS that this was not a vote for independence. He's a local man and makes a decent MP, but I couldn't vote for somebody that might enhance indyref2 and Sturgid. Roll on the Salmond trial.

I'am amazed that the vote looks like it will increase for the SNP is there some kind of subliminal message being transmitted across Scotland that's making people vote for them its having the opposite effect on me as I hate them more every day.

Independence will never happen...forget it move on and get on with what they were elected to do, if they were doing a half decent job I would have no problem with them but all this independence crap and the constant blame game at Westminster is only to deflect the issue that they are doing a rubbish job at running Scotland.
Weird, the recent poll for Indyref 2 is down: 44 YES / 56 NO, yet 55 seats is mooted tonight.

Who are these people who vote SNP yet are unionists at heart, can we root them out and horsewhip them.

What? Don't confuse this with people actually voting for independence.

I always think some people vote SNP because the others are so st. Not because they want independence.

That's my tactical vote done for East Dunbartonshire. Been forced to select that diddy Jo Swinson to keep that other diddy from the SNP out. If there had been a 'fire them all into the sea' option though, I would have taken that.
Ditto. The diddy most likely to oust the SNP diddy got my vote and the world would be a better place if all four candidates were accidentally launched into the sea in a freak trebuchet-related mishap.

I will honestly hold my hand up if I'm wrong but if the SNP doesn't get their predicted 55 seats but is there a sense that the 'quiet' majority in Scotland hold their votes and opinions closer to their hearts than the SNP and may not necessarily want to reveal their votes to those who take exit polls?

A significant gain from 35 will prove me wrong, anything thing less than 45 and perhaps I might be right?

Exit polls aren't like normal polls -

Exit pollsters base themselves at a selected polling station in a chosen constituency. Voters emerging from the polling station are waylaid at regular intervals - every 10th voter, for example - by these fieldworkers, employed by polling specialists Ipsos Mori. They are given a replica ballot paper and asked to fill it in without anyone watching. They then drop the replica paper into a box that will be opened later.

Edinburgh South here. Cast my postal vote, but it really doesn't matter which box I ticked - Ian Murray will win by many, many thousands.

The exit poll only has him on a 53% chance of retaining it, and if he does the majority will be a lot smaller than 2017. Interesting times....

Could it be more a vote against Labour rather than for the SNP?

One of my friends in Scotland told his local LD candidate that he was going to vote for him only because he was the only realistic alternative to the SNP in his area.

Probably more appropriate here than the election thread.
The Mrs got this text earlier

I assume it's this woman

Possibly trying to contact

Do I wait to see if she holds her seat and then call her while doing her speech to congratulate her?

And I always think that the majority of the English want independence from the EU, but that they do not allow the Scottish to determine their own dependence independently.

And yet the 4 or 5 million Scots get to vote on their independence, but the other 55+ million UK voters don't get to vote on it. banghead

I'd gladly vote the Scots out of the UK so the rest of the UK didn't have to keep subsidising them.

Talk about the tail wagging the dog!

And while I'm not exactly a Scot, my father was born in Muir-of-Ord and was always a supporter of the Union.

SNP gain in Angus, s, after we kicked them out last time. Although the Labour candidate has lost her deposit with <5% of the vote...

Oh God, I think you've banged your head too much dude, why would you get a vote on whether Scotland should stay or leave the UK?

It's for the voters of Scotland to decide, dearie me, and this doo-hickey is allowed to vote !!!

Why shouldn't the rest of the UK be allowed a vote in what is supposed to be a democracy?

And this doo-hickey wouldn't currently be allowed to vote, unless I moved to Scotland before Nicola holds her next referendum.

Which is a risk I wouldn't be prepared to take!

Good luck anyway if you go for separation. laugh

Ochil & South Perthshire goes to the SNP.

The Conservative vote held up remarkably well - within 100 votes. Labour collapsed however and went to SNP.
