Just imaging the smug look on brexiteers if the EU did collapse!. I'd dread the thought.
In the massively unlikely event the EU does collapse, who really thinks that a post-brexit UK wouldn't be hit so hard it'd make the financial crisis look like a doddle...?Murph7355 said:
That's surely a photoshop?
Nope! That actually happened https://twitter.com/TheFarage2016/status/746194797...

Brexit only (kind of) makes sense if the EU collapses/struggles without us.
So many have pinned their hopes for future success on the failure of others - and get rather annoyed when the other countries involved aren't sporting enough to play along.
That makes absolutely no sense at all.So many have pinned their hopes for future success on the failure of others - and get rather annoyed when the other countries involved aren't sporting enough to play along.

“Brexit Secretary Dominic Raab has said Britain will not pay its £39bn EU divorce bill if Brussels refuses to strike a deal.
Writing in The Daily Telegraph, Mr Raab insisted the government "would not pay the terms of the financial settlement" if an agreement with the bloc was not reached.”

The UK government's trustworthiness in any future international negotiations will go through the toilet, along with higher debt pricing.Nobody wants to deal with people who don't pay bills.
This isn't a bond default issue (and heaven knows the market tends to forget about those quite rapidly).

No-one would blame us.Nobody wants to deal with people who don't pay bills.
Anyway, they are still proposing to settle the legal liabilities...it is the discretionary ones, particularly the fees for the extra two years, that wouldn't be paid.
