With so much video footage around there's going to be a sting in the tail for United on this one. They say trouble arrives in threes...next!

Well as someone who lived in the US and was threatened with a firearm (I have no doubt the guy would have used it if I hadn't complied) after the most minor of infractions I beg to differ.

edit to add

I'll expand on this a little bit.

When you go to Grosvenor Square to get your Visa you're made to feel like a criminal- sit there, wait here, stand behind the line, invasive questioning etc etc. I was just amazed I didn't have to strip, squat and cough.

Arrived in the US and needed to get a SSN. This involved a trip to a Federal facility that was, again, like a cross between a military induction centre and one flew over the cuckoo's nest.

I won't even get into the joy that was the DPS for a (sic) license.
I live in the US and am an immigrant. I've been to Grosvenor Square, have a SSN, green card, driving license etc..

You're talking utter bks.
The initial statement from Chicago Police Department Office of Communications:

"At approximately 6:00 p.m., A 69-year-old male Asian airline passenger became irate after he was asked to disembark from a flight that was oversold. The passenger in question began yelling to voice his displeasure at which point Aviation Police were summoned. Aviation Officers arrived on scene attempted to carry the individual off of the flight when he fell. His head subsequently struck an armrest causing injuries to his face. The man was taken to Lutheran General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Ongoing investigation."

Makes you wonder what would have happened to the 'male Asian' if there was no video footage evidence
I was thinking exactly this- no video, they would have lied. This is one case where the proliferation of phones has been a huge plus.

United have released a statement saying they will change the booking in procedure for staff in the future. A staff member who wishes to travel on a United plane (as part of their job requirements) will need to have been booked onto the flight at least 60 minutes before departure.
Here's the United internal memo thingy (via TMZ)....

Took off from Lagos once in a jumbo, sitting upstairs in the dome bit. On the bulkhead in front of me appeared the biggest spider I have ever seen, either a tranchula or a bird eating spider, and this was just after they had been round with the spray to kill the bugs.

When I told the steward and pointed it out, he nearly screamed, got a rolled up paper and beat it to death. No one noticed.

On a flight back from Thailand I noticed a large orange ant on my forearm. It didn't survive the flight, I did smile but a duck egg sized swelling with blue and purple colour scheme developed on my arm which took two weeks to fade away. No lawsuit followed in that instance smile In any case this wasn't in the same league as the injuries sustained by the United passenger.

I know you live there, I had a look at your profile. I'm glad your experience was different to mine but as I'm not a individual of your ilk I won't say it's 'utter bks'.

The flight wasn't oversold.

They are still going to get reamed in court (not that it will get that far).

I would like to mention that I have found the passport control officers to be very friendly for past couple of years.
I haven't been dragged off for second level interrogation for a number of years now.

Apart from the man ending up in hospital, the rest looks like utter bullst. The man did not fall and hit his head, he launched into it by a police officer.

Scary that they think they can get away with bks like that when the whole thing iwas filmed by multiple people.

People United Airlines would never make leave the plane, part 1. Andre the Giant.

United "Excuse me sir, but your seat number has been drawn and we have to ask you leave the aircraft"
Andre "No, I don't think so."
United "Er.....ok."

Woah there, sounds like someone is suggesting the police occasionally lie...

Sadly I feel we now enter the dark period until UA reach an undisclosed settlement in 6mths. Where this specific issue will melt away.

Funny to see some still think UA was in the right.
