If you only follow election stuff on social media you'd have pretty much no idea about the car crash that is Abbott this morning.

If that was May it would be everywhere.

Why surprised? Marr has been quite feisty of late in his interviews. Today:

Wood : Vaccuous as always. Nothing new.

Lucas : Forced into softening her line on security and surveillance - a sort of semi U turn. Confused position on end to end encryption on internet.

Abbott : History cruelly exposed and forced into complete U turns on MI5 and security. Claims to now love MI5 because it has apparently changed not her. Get that. Her views have not changed!

Rudd : Strong, confident performance. Corbynesque in not answering the questions on the Manchester bomber. Corrected Marr quite well on the end to end encryption topic. Maintained the party line on the social care cap under challenge.

Not sure we learned anything really new from these interviews!

Cant help thinking that some polls only use social media users . What a trio we could have running this country in just a couple of weeks.

Surprised to see him persist and literally pick up the list and invite her to go through it and say who she felt shouldn't be on it.

Apparently her hair has changed since then too so it's all OK.

clearly in the last 34 years she has been consistent, consistently thick and has earned a very good living sufficiently lucrative to send her Children to a decent school. Socialism good for the masses but not for Abbott and her gang.

What credible policies is that?
Fashionable to dismiss the Tory manifesto because of one political unpalatable policy (care)

Things I liked in the Tory manifesto

Scrapping the triple-lock on the state pension after 2020, replacing it with a "double lock", rising with earnings or inflation-no reason for the wealthiest section of society to enjoy the biggest rise in benefits. The remaining commitment still ensures that the state pension will not fall behind wages.

Means test winter fuel payments, taking away £300 from wealthier pensioners-why exactly are we paying this to rich pensioners to start with?

Increase the personal allowance to £12,500 and the higher rate to £50,000 by 2020-to continue to reduce the tax burden on medium earners.

Ensure foreign ownership of companies controlling important infrastructure does not undermine British security or essential services

Legislate to make executive pay packages subject to strict annual votes by shareholders-shareholders own the company, management are their employees.

Increase the National Living Wage to 60% of median earnings by 2020-one of the only ways to break the low productivity spiral we are in.

Ensure people working in the 'gig' economy are properly protected-if you are effectively a employee you should have the rights of one.

Change the law to ensure listed companies nominate a director from the workforce, create a formal employee advisory council or assign specific responsibility for employee representation to a designated non-executive director

Develop the shale industry in Britain
Non-fracking drilling treated as permitted development-developing shale is essential for energy security and costs.

Meet 2015 commitment to deliver a million homes by the end of 2020 and half a million more by the end of 2022-if delivered a very important policy
I expect very few of these manifesto items will ever be more than "aspirations", particularly the pro worker (anti business?) ones designed to con the centre / centre left voters. If anything at all comes from them it will be so watered down as to be effectively useless.

Increases in personal allowances largely benefit the better off, so that will happen.

I still expect the Tories to be returned with a small ish majority (maybe 30-40), having suffered significant damage to Theresa May, who will then go on to make a complete pigs ear of brexit negotiations. (Maybe she will send Amber Rudd instead?)

No love for team Corby on the BBC. I think they want him gone ASAP and David Miliband or someone like him in his place.

They're constantly getting accused of anti Corbyn bias.

Anyone else notice 'If we leave the EU freedom of movement will end....'

Interesting use of the word if, badly worded sentence or do Labour plan on not following through with Brexit??

Car crash from Abbott.

Comparing her changing views on the IRA to her changing hair styles.

Claiming she's moved on from quotes that were made decades ago, but still draws on her experience as a graduate.

Claims MI5 has changed as an organisation, but she can draw on her experience of the Home office nearly 40 years ago.

Can't name a dissident group, despite being the key point to reject anti terror legislation.

She's set the Labour Corbyn-Terrorist-tedious link argument back by 6 months.

Likewise, to which I would add:

Corporation Tax to fall to 17% by 2020.

A boundary review / reduce the number of MPs to 600.

Lift the ban on new selective schools with provision put in place to ensure pupils can join at other ages as well as 11.

Develop the strategic road network, including extra lanes on motorways and improving key routes.

No increase in the level of VAT.
And a simplification of the tax system.

As much as I enjoy good foot in mouth politics, how many will actually listen to what she says and sway them to vote for the other side? Same for all politicians (of any party) that fudge it at the interview.

Quite significantly actually. I was swaying towards Labour, in all honesty as a tactical vote as I don't support current Tory policy. I have in the past voted Lib Dem.

I'm not a big fan of Corbyn, but his more radical policies are tempered by his obedience to democracy within the party (i.e. trident and an industry I am associated with).

I have defended Abbott in the past because some of the comments directed at her on this site have been borderline racist/sexist. But I do feel she performed incredibly badly today and it makes me reconsider whether I could vote for Labour in good faith.

Don't be too fast to lump all politicians into the say heap. Abbott deserves this level of scrutiny. She has never said anything useful. It's always controversial . It is as though she enjoys stirring and getting that headline. Taunting the right with her views. She displays a complete lack of acumen when it comes to figures. Disdain for 'white people' and by her very appearance the woman lacks any self control and is a terrible liar. If all of that wasn't bad enough, her attitude is like 'so what, i will do and say whatever i like without fear of sanction.

I believe the most recent 'car crash' comments are a desperate attempt to lose votes. She doesn't want the job as HS. Too difficult. Sneering from the side lines is much better.

Why - it needs to happen at some point whatever party get's in. At least the Conservatives have acknowledged there is a problem.
