They haven't wheeled them out yet, probably saving them for this week. They will make a difference and the common touch all too lacking by some politicos will do well for them.
That's all I'm saying
Stan and Ollie died years ago.

I don't care about 'nice personalities', I care about people who will do the job asked of them. The two senior figures in the Labour party have shown themselves to be dishonest, numerically illiterate and quite willing to take up the fight against the largest part of UK society. Dianne Abbot is shameful, Corbyn is a contrarian. That's fine for an opposition position, even fine for a local constituency. It's not fine for running the country. Labour as a whole is a completely divided party, with Corbynites and Blairites at war with each other and completely unable to reconcile their differences.

I'm deeply unhappy about May, but (despite what the Facebook memes would have you believe) her party have managed to not screw up the economy, have resolved most of their internal conflicts about Brexit and are basically economically literate. I might not like some of their policies, but I can trust them to get on with the job. Even better, there are enough strong individuals in the party with half way decent political experience that I trust that the worst excesses of the party will be challenged internally.

I am in the Dorset countryside, its one of the Tories safest areas in the country. In practice nobody is really campaigning here because my constituency has been a bolt on Tory certainty since the 50s. With UKIP imploding I reckon Simon Hoare could top 70% here, yes 70 percent of the vote. Its a total waste of time standing here for any other party, literally a job for life once you get nominated here for the Conservative Party.
Ah yes, North Dorset. Simon Hoare happens to be my local MP too! had campaigning material from the Tories for the locals, but only had Lib Dem, Labour and Green pamphlets through the post.

The alternative is offering a much rosier picture to the masses and it is working.

It is incredible that they are fumbling it this badly, the whole thing should be a forgone conclusion at this point.

Someone needs to remember that painting a negative picture of the opposition rather a positive picture of your own vision didn't work out too well at the last vote this country had...
i thought it worked out quite well smile

Comrade Jezza has said he would be happy to talk to wee Nippy about a 2nd indyref...

That could be interesting up here as the Scottish Tories are making a big push to oppose it and stand up for the union so Jezza has undermined Scottish Labours position on the subject.

May have a few people thinking about their choice of votes, who to go for, someone who will stand for the union, or someone who could sell it down the river.

Tory HQ will not sleep well tonight.

Manifesto = disaster.
May TV interviews = disaster.
Farage supporting Corbyn on Twitter = disaster.
Lead in polls down 60-98% from the peak = disaster.

A very nervous week ahead for the Tories.

I was going to very reluctantly vote Labour on the basis only they could beat the SNP in Glasgow but if Labour are now talking independence they can fk right off.

I'll vote the right way after all.

Yipper you always end up making yourself look like a berk on any thread you regularly contribute to. It started in the Lamborghini threads and continues in the election threads.

Don't you see it?

What does "Lead in polls down 60-98% from the peak" even mean? How is it possible?

Labour want a "garden tax" which is apparently in the small print of their manifesto, or its proper term a Land Value Tax, of 3%

Well according to the Express anyway, not sure that a proper news outlet anymore but here's the link:

http://www.express.co.uk/news/politics/810616/gene...

If true that would raise tax bills significantly, with an average annual tax bill of £3887 but a lot more in areas where house prices are high e.g. Over £17k for houses in Westminster.

Wonder if other media outlets pick it up.....

I can't see the land value tax doing anything other than destroying huge numbers of young families.

Our house is nothing special but worth about £500k. 3% tax on 55% of the value is over £8k per year.

I cannot just find an extra £8k per year. We would have to sell the house. We won't be the only ones.
