Do the contributors that object to the dressing up in red coats to go hunting get upset watching the trooping of the colour. All that celebrating warfare and killing and getting dressed up in red coats. Celebrating the illegal war in Irag and the murder of hundreds of thousands of innocents who have been killed. Perhaps they could just ride in jodphurs and forget about history and tradition!

It must be Sunday?
Well, that has saved me from having to go to church today.
Save going to church... dress up like a nambie pambie and run around your garden pretending to be a cowboy... what else are Sunday's for.Well, that has saved me from having to go to church today.
I am just off to the whiskey / cigar club for some social cigar smoking.

Had them at the back of the house for years. Lots of people feed them and watching them play is wonderful.
Never cause anyone any issues. Even our cats sit watching them.
Perhaps leaving food out for them would save your chickens...
Getting dressed up like a tosser and becoming an animal torturing prick, isn't really the answer.
What a knob you are......you live in a town you dork so most of the fluffy Foxes you see playing will be squashed by drivers of cars vans and trucks....ban cars maybe ?Never cause anyone any issues. Even our cats sit watching them.

Trying to insult or belittle does the fox no good......hunting with packs, be it foot packs or horse packs saves the fox population a lot of suffering. But your blind to that because you get all "trendy" and focus on your simplistic view ....strange position and a bit sad for the fox.

Many people shoot animals and birds purely for fun, and there's barely anyone complaining about that.
I dislike the idea of shooting any animal for fun. But of course many will be against fox hunting because the fox is a beautiful creature unlike the rat.NinjaPower said:
I consider keeping wild animals in cages and in zoos extremely cruel.
Depends on the conditions but unfortunately zoos are needed to maintain some species and educate people about our effect on them. Ironically, zoos often maintain the numbers of species that have been hunted to near extinction. NinjaPower said:
People are happy to wear fur, leather and every other animal product, even when it comes from extremely cruel sources (have to ever watched the videos of rabbits screaming in pain as their fur is torn off to make Top Shop jumpers?).
People in general are not happy to wear (real) fur - you don't see much of it about. Leather is generally a by-product of the food industry so doesn't come from a "cruel source". Most people don't knowingly purchase animal products that have been created in a cruel or unnecessary way.NinjaPower said:
People enjoying going ratting (see the videos on YouTube where they set dogs on literally hundreds of rats to rear then apart) and no one cares.
This is true that people are more bothered about cute fluffy animals. It's the reason the Giant Panda is the WWF's logo and not the bumblebee (whose demise would affect us a lot more).NinjaPower said:
I would put fox hunting in the same category as the above, but for some reason everyone has a total obsession with it.
You might, most wouldn't. In the categories you've mentioned we have:1. Animals killed for food
2. Animals kept in zoos for education/preservation
3. Animals bred for fur/ornaments only
4. Animals killed for fun.
5. Animals killed through necessity
Fox hunting sits in either 4 or 5 (or both).

I personally don't mind that people fox hunt for fun, because as far as I'm concerned, there are many many similar things taking place.
That is a poor argument. I won't bring in the obvious strawman.NinjaPower said:
That leads me to the conclusion that it's simply the fact that people don't want 'posh people' (as they see it) riding around the countryside killing animals for fun.
Some might have that bias of course. For me I don't want anyone killing anything for fun. My thoughts on posh people hunting foxes are the same as those for s hare coursing, so it's definitely not a class thing. On the first one, there are loads of people complaining about all sorts of animal suffering. It's odd for anyone to suggest otherwise.
Of course it's not a class thing. They are just easy targets to take the pee out of.
If some don't have the mental capacity to protect livestock or rabbits etc and prefer a gun, poison or dressing up to be the answer to everything, I doubt there's much that can be done to change their minds. It's a bit like beating dogs to make them learn.
The foxes at the rear of our house seem to do just fine. We have seen them since we moved in 15 years ago and apparently they were living there before we arrived. I have no idea how many have been here. We just see the cubs, see them grow, wash, rinse, repeat.
They clearly live in and love the recently coppiced area they use, but we also have a large woods a few hundred yards from the house for them to prowl around in.
