I took the opposite view, the way she blanked/dismissed a very personal attack, from a typical potato head, made me gain respect for her. Very dignified, I imagine she gets that constantly.
A very personal attack? Really?

She’s supposed to be a politician, setting out and defending her position...she did so badly in this respect she’s now pulled out the race card....

Quite disgusting, offensive to many and plain wrong.

Would you want her in power as Home Secretary?

I wouldn't want her as my secretary or even as my child's dinner-lady

What, exactly, was the "very personal attack"?

I watched the show, and didn't pick up on one, but am happy to learn I'm blind to such things.

I do like the Corbynista in the replies with the Palestinian and LGBT flags. How exactly do they view gay people in that part of the world?

I don't agree with much of what Diane Abbott says but the way she is abused and insulted in the media makes me cringe.

It quite clearly IS because she's a black woman, they wouldn't dare if she was a white man.

It's actually disgraceful.
Have you never heard of Jeremy Corbyn?

Or is he abused and insulted because he is black?

Labour have now formally complained

https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/politics/diane-abbot...

Last time there was a formal complaint from Diane Abbot it turned out that her complaint was a lie.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5978715/D...

The person who witnessed the event was prepared to go in record, so the complaint was withdrawn.

Instead of putting silly tweets up about the BBC and some apparent racism, any fervent Labour supporters should be pushing for decent quality front-bench candidates. Abbott is a fkwit hypocritical racist with zero common sense who can't think on her feet and pulls out the race card when she's backed into a corner. She has done this time and time again for years.

But Momentum would rather defend her than be ashamed that Labour have promoted someone like this to Shadow Home Secretary over other decent candidates (and despite what some say, Labour do have some good and intelligent MPs who would knock the socks off her - they just don't fit the current leadership's leanings).

I do think there's an unpleasant tone to much of this thread that goes beyond fair critique but I'm watching Question Time now and I'm genuinely struggling to see anything out of the ordinary in how Diane Abbott is being treated v. the rest of the panellists.

Maybe there's a shock in store in the last 10 minutes but it's extraordinary reading the article v. watching the show back.

Indeed. I'm still waiting to here what the "very personal attack" was one poster claimed...

The biggest shock will be where the show was being filmed. She would not have been expecting an audience overwhelmingly against the Labour party policy.

So divert, divert, divert.

It's not the policies. It's not the individual incompetence.

It's the nasty biased BBC, and racism. Obviously.

She has https://www.independent.co.uk/voices/diane-abbott-...

Now being fair, haven't seen the "warm-up" of course, and Isabel Oakshotte can be a bit of an arse in how she treats people, I've seen that before, but I'm honestly battling with the rest to see anything that either isn't normal for Question Time or that looks vaguely as if it's due to race/colour confused

The agenda is clear, they want to put journalists and producers in a position where they will be reluctant to challenge or ask hardball questions, for fear of being accused of racism or having the twitter mob descend upon them calling for their sacking. Same thing has happened to Laura Kuenssberg and Andrew O'Neil.

i dont think we will ever hear anything from anyone about the audience being "warmed up" for DA, and this im guessing is just baseless crap to back up the fact she was laughed at, or rather her leader and the party were laughed at, which is fair game given some of the st she was spouting.

As for Fiona Bruce, she is a refreshing change to QT, keeps everything on topic and doesn't allow what i would call little party political broadcasts. DA was probably upset because she wasn't allowed to waffle on about austerity and the nasty Tories, detracting from the farce that is the labour brexit stance.

It seems like an unfair and opportunistic approach by momentum to bully the new host and the editor into reducing criticism of left wing assholes. Remember Corbyn threatening " a change is coming" when talking about the media. Imagine if they ever get into power.

It is a handy thing to have as a politician having Black Skin, you can use it to blame others for your own abilities. Abbott has never shied from using it when it suites her and now is an example.

On QT she was utterly incompetent, she had no idea of a policy except to say whatever the Tories come up with is bad. She tried to speak down to people questioning her views and when they reacted to her comments negatively, it is now claimed it is because she is Black.

She is inept pure and simple and get called out for that and that alone. Farage, JRM, Gove all get stick no worse than she does for being posh.
