"Female MPs were sent 25,000 abusive Twitter messages in just six months - with half of them directed at Diane Abbott"

I sent her pictorial representations of the effect she has upon me. I know she liked them

Look at an average number, maybe in a ratio of the number of media appearances made for both sexes.

Surely then the higher score you receive the stter you are at your job (or you're a Tory...)

And why didn't Amnasty Internotional look into messages received by male MPs?

Not had a piccie for a while. Some new members may wonder what she looks like. Here she is in earnest intelligent pose:

I've not been excited about a sparkly necklace since I watched Diamonds Are Forever at the cinema. I later read that the girls in the main credits were all nude.

For a minute there I thought you had insider info on tomorrow's panel, MBH. biggrin

14/09/2017

David Dimbleby chairs topical debate from Stratford, east London.

The panel includes Conservative work and pensions secretary David Gauke, Labour's shadow women and equalities secretary Dawn Butler, the SNP's deputy leader in the House of Commons Kirsty Blackman, novelist Will Self and broadcaster Julia Hartley-Brewer.

Anyone read TechieDave's recent post on another thread? Surprising to read that not only is he married, but his wife reads this site.

Dave - does she not mind your Abbott obsession?

Its pyscho err phych err it keeps her on her toes.
Funnily enough (I'm not joking at all) she really likes Jon Ashworth the Labour front bencher - finds him physically very "well turned out"

I utterly despise DA, more than I despise the DM, but with the sole possible exception of the time of day of the programme, I have no issues whatsoever with her using those words on TV in the way it is reported in the article

Furthermore, those who used those terms to address her are being counter productive - she does more than enough to be hoisted by her own petard already - resorting to those insults is both out of order and lessens the impact of the very real & deserved criticisms

She should learn the lessons other Labour stalwarts have and express herself with her body and hand language.

This will be interesting. The context in which it was used was perfectly acceptable. She was basically repeating some of the more repeatable stuff she gets trolled with on a daily basis. The phrase and terminology was not directed to anyone as a racist slur, merely highlighting the racial abuse she gets.

On the other side of the coin, Jacob Rees-Mogg has applauded food banks, and said their growing use was 'uplifting'. https://uk.news.yahoo.com/jacob-rees-mogg-says-ris...

The context in his case was to highlight the charitable nature, the generosity of people who donate to those in need, those who give their time to run food banks and on the whole, Britain has not lost its charitable, caring nature. I agree with that.

Here we have two statements, one from a labour politician, one from a conservative politician and both statements, in context, are perfectly reasonable.

Lets see which ones get twisted out of all rational proportion by the professionally offended and left wing agitators, although we probably all know the answer to this.

As for foodbanks, the rise in use is mirrored by the rise in availability and I suspect there's a certain degree of left wing propaganda, whereby demand is created when a new food bank is opened, instead of opening a food bank in response to need. On that bombshell, the answer to reducing food bank use is, surely, to close them all and have zero availability.

I would seriously enjoy watching Abbots comments get twisted out of context and see her hounded out for use of the N word, irrespective of context.
