It would have been a truly beautiful sight if that passing Sprinter van had mounted the pavement, floored it, and smeared them all over the road in a shower of broken bones and spilled intestines.

I would pay at least £100 to watch that.

They were there for what seemed a long time, so brazen.

I don’t think it does. The security measures will only delay. They needed a battering ram and sledgehammers to get in. The smoke deploy is to cause confusion and the doors relocked with two trapped inside. The fact that no police got there was the issue. Security can only delay.

I think the Police need to rethink there entire response to the crimes. Isn’t this what the flying squad was created for ?

What strikes me as odd. London is covered in CCTV. I understand it is manned. At least risk areas. What is the operator thinking when he watches a hand of two up moped riders converging on the prime areas to rob?

Why can’t they have a crack team, high in number on bikes, armed and given authority to take these idiots down

Because people will moan about it.

I'm not so sure.

I agree that there has been resistance in the past to the Police tackling these scumbags, but I think people are so fed up with moped crime, moped thefts, knives, acid attacks and so on, that public support would probably be behind the police even if they simply shot them on sight.

Look at the recent outpouring of public joy when a burglar was stabbed to death by a homeowner.

No

I believe the police would be wrongly crucified. I really would wish they clamp down on it. There are very many decent hardworking coppers who must be sick of it. Sick of the clever little sts that goad them trying to antagonise them. All the time filming plod etc
Look at the way things get dragged out investigating plods conduct. Hauling them through st.
To be blunt having to face that could well make some coppers think twice about taking these scroats on.
It crosses my mind that LaL Liga , Elroy Blue and some others jaws might be dropping at me posting that but it's really how I feel.
I just don't think we give plod enough support at times.

Bingo.

I live in Islington and my girlfriend had her phone snatched about six months ago. Police officer who came around (we needed crime reference number for the insurance claim) said that ever since Henry Hicks they were less able to pursue.

There are countless businesses around Angel with 'Justice For Henry Hicks' fliers stuck in their windows - wouldn't give any of them a penny.

Th video posted on the DailyMail website was very well shot.

I feel for the staff working in such shops, it seems an all too often occurrence. Must be quite scary.

Even so with zero protection from a dangerous driving charge landing on me if I go after one and it goes wrong I'll be waving them off into the distance.

I need a roof over my head and the ability to support my family more than I want to catch these s.

That scene, machetes drawn. One in each hand. In my view that’s shoot to kill

Perfectly legitimate target. Shoot until they are no longer a threat- if they die then so be it.

Absolutely.

They are standing in a busy street threatening to kill members of the public with machetes.

How isn't that an immediate threat to public life that warrants being shot?

Perhaps you could enlighten us as to your inside knowledge of exactly what every available response officer within 5 miles was doing at the time the 999 call arrived to the switchboard. That way we could make an informed decision whether to agree with you or not.

These are machete-wielding individuals using a vehicle as a weapon of sorts.

Does that sound familiar?

If a member of the public had called this in as a terrorist incident, would there have been a faster response?

I don’t accept that. This ‘lot’ have been raging a war on these poor bds for 2 years plus. The police should have a hit squad to deal with them. Only them. On duty and placed around the hot spots. Ready to act. Not unlike fire stations waiting for the call.
