To paraphrase someone far wiser than I - While we're fannying about with this st, evil is getting ready to exploit and take over.

Yes I think you can be anything you choose to be day to day. At the moment I am a canoe.

At least people buying clothes for Apache helicopters and canoes will be able to find the correct section. Henceforth people who just want clothes for boys (or girls) will have to search through every damn item.

That list doesn't seem very inclusive - I thought there were 63 types of non-binary now (or is it 71, it's so hard to keep up).

Because the sheer concept of boys and girls clothing is pretty silly. What makes pink for girls and blue for boys? Absolutely nothing - completely arbitrary.

Likewise toys. That's the more important one and it's the key reason we have not enough engineers of the women variety. From Day Dot they're brought up with "nurturing" toys, not constructive ones.

because there's no need to split clothes by gender, especially not in under 14s given there's no real size difference between an average male and female of the same age.

If you want to wear a floral dress you can, I'm sure more parents will choose to buy them for girls than boys, but there's no need to put a dinosaur jumper (or a floral dress for that matter) in a section pertaining to a particular gender.

I think it's a great thing, personally. A small step but one in the right direction of doing away with pre-conceived notions of gender roles in society.

Or they just go to the children's clothes section and pick out clothes they like for their child?

If the LGBT community are promoting the non-binary cause, why do they allow 'lesbian' in their name, but support the removal of any gender specific description.

Surly lesbians are simply 'gay'? scratchchin

It's not really the 'LGBT community' pushing this, young people of all persuasions are generally much more liberal in their views on gender and sexuality and plenty of straight couples raise their children with far fewer gendered expectations placed upon them these days.

Nope, not convinced by that at all. I think there are people who are misguided in their desire to be trendy parents, there always has been. More significantly what we are seeing is an organised but equally misguided 'political correctness' push from the left.

The left or the LGBT community? Which is it? People with kids can be left-wing too, it's not just the gays, mate.
