Stop Saudi spreading Wahhabism in mosques and force people to integrate more. It's not difficult.
Don't go to a mosque that is Saudi funded - surely that is not hard for UK muslims to work out ?
If they didn't go then Saudi Arabia would stop funding mosques. Surely all these mosques are already empty anyway .....

If nobody goes how can they be accused of spreading the right / wrong message ?

Maybe (and this is me just thinking aloud) not all mosques are so transparent about where their speakers and funding come from?
It doesn't matter where the funding comes from - you either like the message being given or you don't.

The fact that these mosques are presumably full would suggest most are quite happy with he message.

Blaming Saudi Arabia is just a smoke screen deflecting any difficult questions away from Islam itself.

It is because some people, for all manner of reasons it seems, do begin to see that message as being attractive that we have the problem with grooming that we do. Whether their disenfranchised youth, or merely excited at the prospect of firing Mi-16's or throwing grenades, but not understanding either the ideology behind it to the wider consequences. This isn't a new problem and it's certainly no smokescreen or deflection. Everyone, including modern, forward thinking Muslims know there is text within the Quran that simply does not fit within modern society. It's the same for all religious text and it's precisely these outdated sections that Wahhabism take in their most literal sense, hence the issue.

Problem is the majority of Muslims are Sunni, Saudi Arabia is funding mosques to preach Sunni Islam and Saudi Arabia's view on Islam is extreme. In some cases sharing similar beliefs with ISIS

Saudi Arabia is also considered the home of Islam and the birthplace of Muhammad (Mecca), so a Saudi funded mosque over here would appeal to the majority or our Muslim population

Wahhabi is the official, state-sponsored form of Sunni Islam in Saudi Arabia. The majority of mainstream Sunni and Shia Muslim disagree with that interpretation and modern, free thinking Muslims would denounce them. Until Government wakes up to that fact and stops dealing with the Saudis though, it's hard to see how much can change.

Amazingly, my Mrs has just rung. She was out walking the dog this morning and found the blue suitcase in a brook at Pennington Flash (Leigh Lancashire). She's phoned the police and told them. I've told her to go back and take some pics but by the time she's got back they've been and taken it away. She was 100% it's the same as the pictures on the news.

I don't imagine they give it the ''full fat'' death to the west the moment folk walk through the door. It's likely they're going to be more insidious than that surely? Why would the congregation (are they a congregation in a Mosque?) know who's funding the speakers anyway? Wouldn't you just assume they're invited and paid for by the local leader?

In truth, I really don't know much (if anything) about the workings of a Mosque (I'm agnostic myself) but having spoken to friends and past work colleagues who are Muslim (and I would describe as forward thinking and modern), the Islam they live by bears no relation to the fundamentalist / extremist Islam that takes everything at its most literal meaning and is unable to accept that some parts of the text have no part in the 21st century. These are good people who have never harmed anyone and are just as at risk (to terrorist attack) as anyone here. Obviously they also have the added bonus of being targeted with hate for their faith. All the time, there are comments made about how they do 'nothing to integrate' with the communities in which they live, or that they 'aren't vocal enough about their disgust at extremism' yet when they are, the media don't find the column inches to give coverage. Even when 30 000 Muslims came onto the streets to voice their anti extremist message the coverage was minimal at best. There are huge double standards at play within the media.

The police just strolled up and took it away immediately? No precautions? Like the bomb squad checking it out first?

There's a suitcase that potentially has a bomb in it and you tell the Mrs to go back and get photos? Does she have an amazing life insurance policy?

Yes, surprised me too. I was expecting her to tell me there was a full crime scene going on when she went back. But all she reported was lots of flattened grass down the embankment on the brook where they'd retrieved it.

I have to say it sounds far fetched.

This is potentially the suitcase of a mass murdering bomber. No way would it be approached without huge precautions in place.

Someone is having a joke at your wife's expense.

Let's see what turns up on the news then. Under the circumstances it wouldn't be a very funny joke.

Maybe they had a look at it, could see it wasn't a match and fished it out. Or there's reason to assume there's no explosive device in it.

Who knows.
