If that's the case then surely the media need to do what they (eventually) did in Rotherham and publicise it until people ask questions. OTOH in this instance my guess is that the Police have attended an event which has also been attended by many other parties. Just by attending doesn't mean that they accept the views of all the other attendees or that any of the other attendees should have been locked up on sight.

Perhaps a bit glib but the sentiment is that "community leaders", police, councils etc are so desperate for some quick wins in the field of community relations, they'll skip on background checks.
What's your view on the clerics in question?
Based on their views of Mumtaz Qadri they seem quite distasteful individuals who need to be kept under close observation. If they've done something illegal (and the various links that BlackLabel posted aren't clear on this) then they need charging/convicting/locking up.

Very reasoned replies with which I agree in the main.

Possibly some "expediency" as far as the police attendance goes. One hopes that they would do their homework in advance. That said, friends close, enemies closer etc.

Also, extremely distasteful might not equal illegal.

I suppose we shall see.

My understanding is that inciting hatred is a crime. If so, why haven't these guys been locked up?
Because they are not British citizens and the hate incidents took place in Pakistan they can’t be charged here. But if they are saying such things in front of their Pakistani congregation then what are they saying when they tour British mosques?

I’m not saying they should be locked up but they certainly shouldn’t be given a visa to preach in this country (they shouldn’t be let in full stop) in the same way other odious individuals (Pamela Geller and Robert Spencer for example) have had their visas rejected.

I wonder if people would be so understanding if senior police officers were posing for photographs with Tommy Robinson or Paul Golding all in the name of ‘tolerance’.

Would also not be the first time a police force had put their foot in things with regard to their media and public image management.

surely if they are hate preachers spreading a false message nobody will go and listen to them speak.

This in itself will be enough to deter any future visits.

Although I imagine their tour of mosques last year was reasonably well attended.

Not defending the POS in any way but is the reporting not scummy as well.

"Stole a debit card, purse and phone from injured gran Pauline as winced in pain on floor with 15 shrapnel wounds"

I take it there's footage of the wincing?

Did you read the entire article? I mean, you obviously read some of it, did you read the rest? It's all right there, in the words, you just have to read them.

Typical Sun ''reporting'' I guess?

Shocking that someone could be so callus as to rifle through victims possessions like that, especially with so many being children. He'll certainly get a rough ride in jail that's for sure. I imagine he'll be housed with the nonces for his own protection.

Fair enough.

Have a Guardian link;

"Extensive" previous.
Why doesn't that surprise me ...

Utter scumball. I'm rather angry reading all that.

Another point - why is someone labelled a "hero" for comforting injured people? That, in my opinion, is just the action of a decent, civilised person. If he'd been crawling through the ventilation shafts and taken out the bomber like in Die Hard, or he was risking his life to put out a fire, or crawling through enemy fire to rescue a wounded comrade then he would be a "hero". Terrible mis-appropriation of the word.

2 x theft.
1 x attempt fraud.
Some bail offences (and failing to appear at court).

CPS accepted a plea and chose not to proceed on 5 other charges.

He'll be out faster than you can say porridge.

Sentencing is 30 January.

I'd imagine someone who steals from the victims of a terror attack isn't to far from the terrorists themselves in terms of perception amongst inmates, I'm sure he'll have a "fun" time where ever he goes!
