Well done to armed response though for getting Manchester locked down although all masked up you would think we were in Basra

Running to unknown conflict is very brave of those officers

The panic is unbelievable.
There would be so many children without parents who wouldn't have a clue what to do in that situation frown

Telegraph reports Tim Farron said

"This is a shocking and horrific attack targeting children and young people who were simply enjoying a concert.

My deepest sympathies are with the victims, and with families who have lost loved ones, as well as those desperately waiting for news.

I would like to pay tribute to the bravery and dedication of the emergency services.

This is an attack on innocent people and the nation is united both in its grief and its determination to stand up to this deplorable attack."

They're not evacuating the building though, so presumably don't think there's any further risk to those inside.

That suggests a more mundane cause to me (speaker failure & collapse or even rail transformer going up)
Not sure you have full facts there chap...

Rumours now of at least 20 dead. Happened in the foyer and possibly a tunnel or two. It is almost certainly a terror attack.

Speculation that some people had posted messages online a few days ago to "stay away from Manchester and concerts".

All rumours, of course. Nothing official yet.

I've just searched for Manchester on twitter and read some of the tweets, it's brought tears to my eyes reading some of them. I can't even begin to imagine what's going on up there with so many people looking for their kids. Loads of them saying 50+ kids without parents with them taken to holiday inn near by.
Must be total chaos frown

If what she says happened ( a bomb went off cm's away from her ) then she's extremely lucky to seemingly avoided any injury.

Such a sad video of the parents waiting at the bottom of the stairs for their kid to come down. Can't imagine what they are experiencing.

Been following this and one of the latest reports says those caught up were thrown feet into the air by the blast(s).

One reliable source saying 20 to 30 people lying badly injured near the box office on the way into the arena.

GM Police issue a feed stating confirmed fatalities and some fools still saying it's popping balloons or speakers.

If you have young kids or teens gone to that Arena tonight you must be ste'ing yourself with worry if you can't contact them.

Asides, security surely would have been high, what with an American artist performing too? Not that I'd ever heard of her.
Questions, serious ones, going to be asked now.

Bomb squad just arrived.
I have a relative who works for the BTP who has been called into work. It's not balloons.

And not to have any trace of the explosion either.

There's far too many fake images going around social media to accept them as genuine without additional verification. Tommy Robinson was sharing the image of the training event and wondering if it was real...

The 20 dead figure seems to be something only the US networks are running with - not seen UK media saying that yet?

Surprised it's been an hour and a half and no concrete news on what's happened yet. Just appears to be a confused scene at the moment.
Media are probably waiting for confirmation that it's definitely a bomb.

It's unusual for police to confirm fatalities so quickly isn't it? Think this will be a very long night

Tweets about 20-30 dead. As usual may not be accurate.

From the reports of the location of the explosion the security is really a non-issue.

I suspect that the security has actually worked in that has prevented anyone getting devices inside the arena. Not being able to do that, though, has perhaps caused them to use the next point of maximum impact and have simply attacked when the place was turning out and people were crowding through the doors.

I've just seen a video on Twitter of one of the victims being helped by his clearly panicked friends screaming for an ambulance, bleeding heavily from his legs. I'd say it's more likely to be due to an explosion than a crush.

Won't post the link as to be honest it's not very nice.
