If it is a fuel filter where can I get one
Discussion
Car has a good rumble but will not keep running, I have recently emptied the tank so thought the 'fuel filter', might be clogged up, that thing connected to the offside, sill that looks like a can that was cobbled together in a shed maybe in Blackpool, Steve Heath suggests the can is a big problem if blocked. Took it off and it appears to be empty I can blow through easily. Bit loath to just put it back if I can source a replacement and I am at my wits end as to why the old sod won't start if that is not the problem.
HELP!!!!!!
HELP!!!!!!
All issues I've had with my two Wedges have all been ignition related. Ignition amp is number 1 suspect (3 failures), closely followed by coil breaking down (2 failures), then coolant temperature sensor (1 failure), then HT leads ( 1 failure) and finally distributor (2 failures but second failure was a brand new unit).
Try and get a fuel pressure gauge test on the fuel rail - you can buy a gauge for less than £15 and temporarily plumb it into the cold start injector fuel hose. if pressure is constant and decent (36psi plus) then it's not a fuel supply issue.

Is the filter before the fuel pump ?
I didnt have a pre filter on my 280 so I have recently bought one of these and had it fitted between swirl pot and pump ( with the 120 micron element)

Not sure what the 350i filter is though for a replacement..

I was looking at the spec of the pump the other day and it states that they must be used with a filter before them, thought i might get one of these:

Fuel pressure testing kit just arrived. By now my pump was off the car and on the bench, that's down to you lot encouraging me to change all the pipes, why are there three different diameter popes? That's a rhetorical question its just mad cap design. Anyway back to the point, the pump pressure is 80-90psi the variation is due to the supply funnel leaking petrol all over my hands and me and my mad mate chickening out and aborting further testing.
Now the search for pipes begins.
