Seems if you live near a Waitrose your house is worth an extra £36K, near an Aldi and it worth £3K less.

I live equidistant between both of these fine emporia.

Do I simply take 3 from 36, or dismiss it as just another load of blox? Who writes this stuff!

Suspect cause and effect but the wrong way round.

Waitrose will put stores in more affluent areas?

I live opposite a Waitrose.

I suspect what I have gained in house price, I have lost in the cost of sun dried tomato focaccia and other fripperies.

It's surprising, whilst house hunting, after looking @ RM floor plans, pics etc. Mrs PR will ask where the nearest Waitrose is?

Nearest Waitrose is 20 miles away. It is worth spending 50k to move closer?

Yup. From. The same school of thought as having a Bentley in your drive increases the price of your house.

There's a Waitrose in Chippenham. And Burgess Hill.

Think on.

There's one in Stirling. Right beside it - in the same building - is TK Maxx.

Those places are hardly downtown Ellesmere Port, the north end of Birkenhead or Toxteth though are they biggrin

Nowhere on this list has a Waitrose
