Iran sending first fresh food, aid flight, to Doha today.
Simple for them to set up sea supply line also - only @10hours steaming time.
Turkey expects to have 3-5 K crack infantry troops in country - today. I dont think SA are completely mad, but IF they tried to attack / occupy Qatar, faced opposition from Turkish troops and attacked them. What does NATO do? article 5 is in play. Does NATO line up against SA?
Anybody else notice that the `funding terrorism` report, that many pundits assumed names SA, and that the government were facing pressure to publish - has vanished from the news.
I think we can assume 3 major things, Firstly, this is about Natural Gas - resource access and access to pipelines (the Saudis are missing out here) and there is an internal power struggle going on. Secondly the US is happy to stir trouble in the region (and Israel approves) the US has the petro$ to defend. They must me uncomfortable that both Qatar and UAE are increasingly trading in Chinese currency (both now have official exchanges) Lastly, the funding of proxy terror armies and `color` revolution by many national actors is now out in the open - everybody needs a bag holder.
Qatar is the bag holder. But they are used to playing both sides of the fence on at least 3 fronts at once. They are likely to make a lot of trouble instead of taking a wrap on the knuckles.
just remembered re NATO -- Germany is leaving Incirlik, having grown tired of the Turks allegedly obstructing their access.

Article 5 doesn't apply in that region. rival38 said:

A truly wonderful post which perfectly displays how little people in the west understand this region. Simple for them to set up sea supply line also - only @10hours steaming time.

The talk is certainly around the Saudis wanting to remove the current ruling family and installing a puppet ruling family, mainly for the two highlighted reasons above.Simple for them to set up sea supply line also - only @10hours steaming time.

As for having Turkey as an ally
This place has enough problems to deal with, last time they tried meddling anywhere they got their arses handed to them.

Thanks, a good read, which rather agrees with me that Qatar is not going to be an easy whipping boy.
This article was published some time ago - still worth a read. Interesting viewpoint on Qatar`s role in the region, beyond and who its friends are.
