Make them an offer they can't accept.
Here's the historical precedent.

This looks like a way to draw the Iranians into a war.
Do the Saudis have the minerals?
Was the turkey shoot in Yemen just a way to harden the troops for the main event?

What makes that particular mouthpiece worse than, say, Fox News
The Saudi's and the U.S do not control it.

If the US was clever it would interject on the Qatar side at the moment.

But it is not clever, even more so with that clown in charge.

The arab states need to be told they are actually ruled via outside sources. They are a great land mass of very little people. So as Israel got trampled by the Egyptians and Babylonians all those years back these little City states that is current day Arab peninsular need to be shown how to properly tow down in 21st C world.

Given that this kicked off shortly after Trump visited Saudi, that would seem unlikely.

I's surprised that the US are not siding with Qatar here.
I doubt if trump even was aware that the US's largest airbase in the whole of the Middle East is actually in Qatar when he made his first comments. I believe Qatar actually pay the salaries of the soldiers stationed there as part of some agreement with the US for protection.

I am totally NOT surprised by the complete ineptitude of ANYTHING Trump does.

He has decimated his own State Department so anybody who might have been able to give him good advice on the situation in that area was fired.

He is a complete and utter disaster and I am very worried.

Funny to see the Gulf nations argue with each other about who the biggest terrorist sponsor is.

"Qatar has accused the United Arab Emirates of supporting the 9/11 attacks in New York as a diplomatic war of words between the tiny oil-rich state and its Sunni Arab neighbours continues."

http://www.newsweek.com/qatar-accuses-uae-supporti...

The Saudis also keep on issuing Qatar with a deadline to meet their demands then when Qatar tell them to f-off the deadline is extended again lol

As I pointed out already, this is not a move by Trump, this is a strategic move by the U.S government (sans U.S Pentagon) to maintain the economic status-quo. On this specific topic, the American's are doing the big moves by pulling the strings of the Saudi's. Without the Petrodollar, the U.S is technically bankrupt. The Pentagon does not work for the Washington machine and so, came out in defence of the Qatari's as they are strategically important (due to the airbase).

This is a strategic economic play by the U.S and the Saudi's to ensure continuity of the Petrodollar by squeezing the nation going off-script - Qatar. All the Qatari's need to do is stop selling Gas in Yuan and working with the Iranians to this end (by building pipelines that serve the Asian market running through Iran).

The Iranians have little to no capacity to export Gas or Oil in large quantities (they require huge investment - $100bn+ to get moving) and so the battle with the Iranian's remains an ideological one at present and not an economic one. The battle with the Qatari's is economic and the fate of the U.S Dollar is the prize.

Last year (April 19, 2016), the Chinese launched a Yuan denomination which is convertible to gold, if this makes traction with the Asian countries, the U.S will not be able to afford their military and thus, gives the upper hand to the Chinese.

You can't blame Trump or the U.S for protecting their interests, IMO it cannot be labelled stupidity when it is simply self preservation, even if the political moves themselves, on the surface, do not seem logical.

All the talk in the press about this being about Terrorism - what a load of rubbish !

Trump visits. Says the Saudis are great pals. Saudi is embolded to "have a go" at Qatar

Blindingly obvious.

Trump's ineptitude is gigantic and going to cause a major war at this rate.

Which is ironic as one of his major campaign promises was to keep America out of other people's wars. If this kicks off America will be involved in a majorly big and bad way. I'm waiting for the Saudi tanks to start rolling in any day now.

He's a complete and utter nincompoop

It's not a unique event - but it flies in the face of one of his key campaign promises.

Have you actually read back what you wrote there Eric?

While there might be a small nugget of truth there it reads like an extension of your obsession with Trump. Seriously you need to back off a bit.

Next you'll be claiming he blighted your crops and turned the milk sour.

The guy might be a prize but he isn't somehow to blame for everything that happens in the world.

The Saudis were doing all sorts of regional agitation (like Yemen) when the sainted Obama was still on the scene, this is an extension of the local games.

Eric is basically a human version of the Daily Express rag. He only has 3 things to worry about in his life and he rotates them on a daily basis.

With the Daily Express you have :

1. Diana
2. House prices to soar
3. 300mph gales and -50C temperatures to batter Britain

With Eric you have :

1. BBC
2. Making Tax Digital
3. Trump

Check his post history, that's all you'll find. smile

And your point is?

I tend to talk about things I'm interested in. Don't you?

You'll find I have plenty of posts on other topics too.

And, at the end of the day, what's the problem with me posting on any of these subjects?

Does it upset you?

Does it make you angry?

If it does, then may I suggest you might have a problem.

My point is that you have an unhealthy obsession with anything Trump related, MTD and anyone daring to bad mouth your beloved BBC. Every time Trump is mentioned you are there like a rat up a drainpipe telling us that WW3 will have been started by him by the end of the day. Unsurprisingly, none of that has happened and shows no signs of happening anytime soon either, although Fatboy in NK is really pushing his luck. I can think of at least 2 -possibly 3 - former US President's who have been far more "dangerous" than Trump in starting wars at the drop of a hat, but let's not let facts get in the way of your frothing eh?

In would call it a HEALTHY obsession actually.

Too many people have an unhealthy obsession criticising me and my posts, I am finding of late. Maybe they should become a bit less obsessed by other PHers and concentrate on the things that REALLY matter - like the behaviour of world leaders.

Look to thyself - as Shakespeare once said.

Bit unfair and personal. Delving into people's posting history is pretty poor form.

Eric's been on here for years and I've seen him help loads of people. I bet he's never been banned or even had a post removed.
