People are easily found even from having a minor online presence. I have some experience of this. It's not hard with the right means.

That's very true but do you think the average lunatic would have the skills/means to do that?
Would the police spend any extra money figuring those details out?
Has there ever been a case of somebody being arrested for posting something online under an anonymous pseudonym?

It's pretty easy not to fall foul of these laws. Just don't post stuff with your personal details attached.

edit, I accept it's not infallible.

However, context is very important. For example, where reference is made to a recent tragic event (as is the case here),
it may sometimes result in reducing the otherwise high threshold.
As I mentioned in the other thread - the context is also that he is linked much more closely to the attack than most people. His dad owns the van rental firm, which if I were investigating this, consider something worth digging into further as well.

If it ain't Mr I hate double standards.

Where's your outrage at this terrorist act? Or dare I say you are the Mr double standards.
Not sure I do 'outrage'for anything, but I certainly dont agree with what he did if thats what your implying.

Agreed. Unfortunately, people seem to think they can say what they want over the Internet and it will provide them anonymity and immunity. In life, I never come across people like some on PH as an example, and that's probably because we all maintain a certain dignity and decorum face to face, and unfortunately the veil of the www seems to provide cover for otherwise latent feelings.
I honestly find the reverse,I very rarely come across people who are so readily offended.

Like people getting worked up about vans that might be from Wales or might not?

Why are people getting angry about this?
We get told not to get angry at attacks, instead we are told to promote stupid hashtags and other meaningless virtue signalling.

No we're told to not get angry at group Y because group Z attacked us.

You're allowed to be angry if you get short changed. But writing a stern letter to the local Chinese takeaway, because the local fish and chip shop short changed you, isn't correct behaviour.

Sticks.

I'm not of that generation, nor easily offended, and think PC is a poor substitute for good manners.

But the way I see religious people talked to on here is reminiscent of the way other minorities were spoken to in the 70s.

Eta I suspect when we think of society as more tolerant, when we mean liberal.

Only idiots do that, the smart ones say what they want and put it in religious texts - full immunity

You're normally pretty vociferous on the other threads where terrorism might/is involved. Very quiet on this one. But I'm sure it has nothing to do with double standards.

I'm don't think I came anywhere near vociferous in other threads,I'll call out hypocrisy though which seems to be rife.
As to being quiet on this one I've just come back from a months ban which was ridiculous and just can't be bothered to reply to jjlyn, rsscot, strohacker, phead etc, generally its not worth it,I'm bored of goading and one sided moderating.I'm taking a more liberal view, the world is lovely and I'm just popping in now and again.

There, that should fix all the problems!
Why shouldnt we be angry? Forget singing long to "Dont look back in anger", I AM angry, bloody furious in fact! Angry that my country has become a war zone for both religious nutters, and knuckle dragging racists & idiots, angry that innocent men women & children...children FFS!..are being killed whilst innocently going about their business, no matter what creed or colour. And whilst we all sing along & put flags on buildings & hashtags on Facebook posts, there seems to be fk all we can do about it. Our leaders are too busy sucking Saudi cocks so their rich mates can get nice oil & arms contracts, or inviting all & sundry into the country with not a thought of the 3rd world Dark Age mumbo jumbo, while the press rage against them and incite the hatred from the other side! Meanwhile the Big Brother wannabe in No.10 looks for more ways to check up on us, but cant use the ways that already exist to stop this crap.
I dread to think what sort of world my kids will grow up in unless idiots can realise 1 day that we are all pink & squishy inside, & bleed the same.
So, yes,Im angry, and need a beer

Didn't stop you posting on the Robinson thread.

And of course the mods are to blame. Nothing to do with you.

I said 'now and again'.Nice goading though.

Did gavia get banned from NP&e for offering fights and sending politicians threads?
I don't remember offering anyone out for a fight. Its not a level playing field here, the quicker the third party mods come in the better.

I don't know can i? cant remember doing, I've been angered (so you could say offended) by actions of others lately. Like the Manchester bomber, the London terror attacks and the Saudi football team not taking part in the minutes silence. But cant remember being offended on the behalf of someone else.
And what do you class as offended on behalf of someone else?

It's unlikely I'll get banned for notifying the owners of Pistonheads to what was going on. Of the thread was so perfect why was it deleted?

I'm sick of explaining the context around my comments, but it involved one poster directly referencing my parents within a week of my fathers death and I reacted emotionally to that. Others jumped on the bandwagon and saw it as funny to goad me further. I withdrew my comments and apologised. I won't apologise to s3fella given what he said and I stand by my comments to him.

If you think it's funny to wind someone up about what their parents think so soon after they've died, then that says more about you than you'd like.

The guy with very poor joke on twitter being arrested is one example. If it goes to court is there going to be a line of people ready to testify on how offended they where about it?
