Laudable?

No. because they need to learn that the world is NOT fair. That when they are out in the real world they cant just decide they don't like something and have the rules changed to suit them.

It breeds the oft mentioned "entitlement" attitude! And it's why a shed load of young adults these days are unemployable on attitude alone!
Sometimes people seem hell bent on ramming home the "life isn't fair" lesson to our children, and making them suffer a bit here and there as it'll 'do them good'.

It reminds me of Viz's 'Victorian Dad' shouting "By god boy you'll thank me for this one day"

I would rather they were comfortable in all learning environments, which includes relaxed dress codes in warm weather.

I don't think it's asking a lot.

But if nothing bad is ever challenged, nothing will ever be done! If you are trying to teach kids who are far too hot, they will just not learn. Some might even fall asleep. (I know I'm fighting off a quick 'combat kip' when I'm doing my annual "Training"). At which point, what has your 'Uniform Policy' done? Absolutely NOTHING!

Real World, what world do you imagine they are inhabiting presently?. Who does not changing this particular rule suit, and what attitude would it breed.
You don't seem to like or value this country's youth very highly.

The secondary school my elder brother went to in th late 70's early eighties had a problem getting kids to wear uniforms or not modify them, they came out with a rule that cool looking black harrington jackets could be worn instead of blazers if the rest of the uniform was to spec.

Problem solved.

It's all about applying common sense to suit the situation.

"Ah diddums"

"can't cope"

So hardened adults have air con in offices and are grateful for it, and would have it fixed/replaced pronto if it packed up in unusually hot weather, but people of school age are weak or effeminate for wanting to work in a reasonable temperature - it that what you're saying?

The boys wearing dresses is not "some ode against sexism" It's a classic lefty/Unions tactic. You don't like something, protest about it, and get it changed (preferably in a knee jerk way)

You give into this sort of thing once, the pupils will get an idea on something else in the future....
Can I just say that I love reading your posts. You crazy, paranoid, fruit-bat loser!

Comapre and contrast to the "I turn up for job interviews in the same clothes I intend to wear to work (hawaiian shirt, beach shorts, and birkenstocks ) and if they don't like it the pompous trouser polishers can stick their jobs up their jacksies as I've got 3 other contracts lined up....." threads... biggrin

We wore shorts at primary school then at big boys school, ( a grammer), it was black trousers, black shoes/socks. White shirt and blazer with school tie. If it was declared hot, then the tie came off as did the blazer and sleeves were rolled up.
In the RN when summer was declared the heating boilers were switched off, no matter the weather/temp!
Do you mean you went to a Grammar school?

I'm sorry, I'm not normally pedantic but going to a Grammar School and not being able to spell Grammar.......
