I was painting the walls of my grandparents' bungalow when I found out.

I've kept the paintbrush ever since and top up the turps in the original jar every month.

It's the paintbrush of my heart.

I know there are many conspiracy theories out there but has anyone ever asked Ainsley Harriot where he was on the night -and also Jill Dando's murder? I'll never eat his flavoured cous cous. No matter how cheap it is in Home Bargains.

A bit of a tangent but isn't Prince Harry supposedly a love child from James Hewitt?
Not that old chestnut.

The ginger gene comes from the Spencer side.

Beyond that Harry looks a lot like Charles.
I imagine there's enough of Harry's DNA floating around that someone's probably had it tested. If he wasn't from the Royal jizz we'd have heard all about it by now.
Also if he was James Hewitts son the gestation period would have been -2years. Harry was born in 1984, Diana and James Hewitt didn't meet till 1986.
I'd love to see someone come up with a conspiracy theory about a time traveling foetus.

Di was, unquestionably, the world's most famous woman of the 20th century. She was wall-to-wall around the world, and appealed to young and old, for ~15 years.

Monroe was very Western-centric and shortlived. Theresa was too geeky for most people (sadly). Thatcher was mostly for older folks. Madonna was mostly for younger people.

The most famous today would probably be someone like Hillary Clinton or Kim Kardashian.

I have no doubt many will condemn me, but I am still staggered she was on the list of 100 Greatest Britons that the BBC did some years ago.

Ha!

Remember my wife waking me up to tell me the 'terrible' news. Told her to sod off and went back to sleep.

Got half a day off paid for the day of the funeral though so every cloud and all that...

She was third. She was in front of Darwin and Newton! However, it was a poll so was indicative of the views of the public and shows her popularity. Most remarkably, Bob Geldorf was on it. Did they not understand what greatest Britons means? There was also King Arthur.

I don't think too much credence should be given to the list other than as indicative of the voting masses' preferences.

To a non-Brit this seems a bit union jack tinted view. Marilyn Monroe still out Googles princess Diana. And she was a film star from the fifties. Madonna trumps them both, but some of that is due the other connotations of the name + more of an overlap between her career and the internet age.

IMHO the most famous woman of the 20th century would be either Marilyn or Madonna.

Not quite. Also Diana has many different ways of being "googled" (oh at missus). just a quick google puts her way ahead of Munro and way behind Madonna. Whatever your preference she remains a world figure much to Charlie boy's annoyance.
IT will soon be all forgotten again probably until Charles becomes King heaven forbid.

It might be apt that the feudal farce of monarchy comes crashing down during the reign of a King Charles.

A very Western-centric view.

Need to include Baidu and other Chinese, African and Latin search engines to get a complete global view.

Diana = 36m Googles.
Monroe = 28m.
