In trying to carefully manage Diana's reputation and almost beatify her the palace have opened a Pandora's box here and are now whining about people who dare to tell the truth.

My bad, I should have known that spelling auto correct error would confuse the simple and and feeble of mind amongst us......

I was staggering out of a nightclub heading back to RAF Wittering (where Di was the honourary Station Commander I think) when the news started to break of the accident and the taxi driver was already quick on the "dead as a Dodi" humour.

A few hours later I was very rudely awoken by a very tearful 6ft 2in "I can carry two aircraft bombs under each arm" Armourer balling his eyes out shouting "she's dead".

I never understood that a nation which prided itself on stoicism allowed itself to be "forced" into a month of pitiful wailing about a person 99% of the population had never met, because god forbid that you said you weren't fussed at all, oh the reactions that got!

Long Story short, a daughter/mother/wife/friend died and I felt sorry for those who actually knew her. The rest of those involved in the public outpouring were mental (in my opinion).

That was another angle on the event, it was suddenly the medias fault the car had crashed.

The fact that you don't actually HAVE to flee from photographers was not really brought up. They were taking pics, not firing RPGs.
Nor did anyone prevent them from putting on their seat belts.

I was also slightly baffled by the very public wailing and gnashing of teeth; it seemed most peculiar. And the hysterical "the media hounded her to her death" sentiment of many seemed to overlook the very obvious fact that there had to be a market hungry for photographs and stories of her.

My brother has always maintained she was bumped off to shut her up.

I think he may have a point.

What would she have known to have possibly justified being bumped off?

Many have hypothesised she 'met an accident' because she was embarrassing the queen and the royal family in the eyes of the world. the queen knew she was knocked up by an Arab, and that simply would not do in royal circles.

And the method they used was quite complicated involving a drug addicted driver who had been drinking, a high speed chase through the road tunnels of Paris, while being pursued by several motorcyclists pretending to take photographs of her, and someone to make sure that her seat belt wasn't fastened.

Apart from that the chosen method was quite simple - and effective.
.............................................

However, I wouldn't be surprised if some members of The Royal Family thought "Oh dear, what a shame".

300yrs ago I might have thought that likely. Not now.

Diana is far from the most embarrassing thing the Queen has had to deal with in the last 60+ years.

I have no doubt there was no love lost. But some Heath Robinson assassination? Nah.

The royals probably "wanted" her bumped off, because she was a threat to their future. But it was def an accident on the night.

She was not wearing a seatbelt in a cut-and-shut driven recklessly through a concrete tunnel in a chase at high speed by a drunk.

However, there are some mildly fishy elements to the after-crash. A slow 1hr trip to get to hospital, deactivated CCTV, unusual toxicology tests, a silent bodyguard survivor, etc. All debunked to some degree, of course, and none proven, but still interesting enough to warrant a read and furrow some brows.

The bodyguard was the only person in the car who was wearing their seatbelt. He carried on working for Mohammed Fayed for some time after the accident.

I mean, you don't think he was given money to keep his mouth shut, do you? Why surely not!
