Hi all

Looking for a bit of advice and opinion from the PH faithful. Doing about 20k per year for work/personal and I've previously had a work van and a weekend car, but now looking to combine the two and get a 'luxury' car to do both. Would likely run this car as my sole car for around 2/3 years.

Requirements are fairly loose:

- Company pays for all fuel when commuting so not bothered about MPG/efficiency.
- Nothing less than 6 cylinders and preferably a petrol.
- Budget up to £22,500.
- As much power and refinement (excessive road noise is a real hate of mine) as I can get for the money.
- 2010/2011 is probably as old as I would like to go, exceptions can be made on this though.

Obviously there are the usual contenders like 5 series etc, just wondering if I've missed any slightly more unusual/more interesting options?

Thanks in advance!

We run an e-class with sufficient propulsion and air suspension that would likely meet your needs.

Lexus make some of the best wafters in the world and have great warranties available to anything under 10 years/140k miles:

BMW also offer great warranties but not as good value as Lexus. 740Li is an interesting prospect:

A8s are lovely. Their warranties are only available if approved used though:

Obviously S-class should be considered:

If you've been used to the practicality and driving position of a van, but are now after a bit of luxury and power, how about a full fat Range Rover? Such as...

The wheels won't be to everyone's taste (I'm basically saying I don't like them!), but there's no denying that is one handsome brute of a car. smile

Thanks for the swift replies all.

Now, is there anything that should stop me going out and getting one of those S Classes today biggrin?

In all seriousness, the S Class or an SL probably represents the exact sort of car I am after, so it looks like finding the perfect one will be order of the day for the foreseeable future.

If you are happy to go a little older and are not to worried about MPG then don't discount a Lexus, only took a few minutes to find this one, there are probably even better bargains out there.

LS460

You would also be coming in under budget...

P.S. If you want a bit newer in the Lexus you end up with the LS 600H which has a CVT gearbox, which is not the best, apparently?

Maybe drive a Lexus and a Merc before making your mind up.

Modern CVT gearboxes are fine, just different.

That CLS is tempting me, these are based on the E class aren't they?

How much of a step down would a CLS be from an S class? Has anyone here had an experience from both?

Happy Hunting by the way the 4.7 remaps to a comfortable 480-505bhp with over 600lb/ft
