We seem to have a bit of a problem with pigeons locally, you only have to stand and look around at all the roofs to see the build up of offerings slaking down the slates at the ends of each house's roof.
Now, admittedly I'm not fussed about everyone else's house but they're buggers in scaring off all the other winged wildlife, making a mess everywhere and destroying some tree's. They make a hell of a noise too, sat on the chimney cooing endlessly.
I'm gradually taking some action myself in the form of cutting down some big conifers they seem to like but that doesn't seem to be their only perch place. Usually they mix it up between roof edges and chimney.
Hardly end of the world stuff, but I wonder if anyone has any real world experiences of discouraging them from perching / roosting and generally getting them to "f off" without resorting to anything that might get me in trouble with the RSPB, police or neighbours.

Ah, I thought that would be this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HmQXqhj5KacOP, air rifle. Headshots only on woodies, they have armoured chests. But once you've got them, the breast is very tasty
