Well, I guess we just wait now for the forensics to sort it out.... I guess they'll be doing a DNA match with something from her home or from her parents maybe? They have little else to go on... no face, no teeth. I can't imagine that is a pretty job. I couldn't do it.

That video... Wow!

Perhaps, once the extremities were damaged enough, the torso could have then floated free back to the top. Depends what he did with her, bound or weighed down. Who knows. They're not likely to find the cause of death unless he tells them, surely?

I don't think it matters from a charging him point of view, pretty sure 'burial at sea' is reserved for accredited armed forces Captains, otherwise it is unauthorised burial which has similar punishments to manslaughter if I remember correctly.

Is it possible that her extremities have been eaten by whatever lives in the sea? Not sure it would be that quick?
Yes, Amphipods, bristle-worms and other micro-crustaceans like small crabs and shrimps could strip a body over night. They are known as "clean-up crew" in home reef tanks for a reason! I had a weak fish in mine recently which was struggling at the bottom of my tank. I'd planned to scoop it out later in the day when I'd got a quarantine tank set up, but when I went back 2 hours later it was just a bit of a head left.

Not for the squeamish, but 48hrs for them to strip a pig carcass isn't unusual -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F7-1nCutsg4

Knowing how quick sea things can devour dead things, I'm surprised any bodies are found after going missing at sea.
The thing with that is that those creatures would surely have started more from the centre (where all the most nutritional bits are) outwards, so for the body to be missing all the extremities but still have a recognisable torso seems unlikely to me.

Personally, I'm in the 'he-dunnit' camp, in terms of trying to remove evidence/conceal the identity of the corpse by removing limbs...
Would explain why he was missing so long.... I mean he was reported missing at 3:30 AM and spotted in the harbor mid-morning. He left base at 19:30 the night before. Hacking limbs off with blunt instrument must take a while....

If you wanted to off someone with little chance of punishment, taking them out to sea is probably a good way to do it.

One shove and its all over bar the drowning.

'I am sorry, I didn't see her go in'

'I just couldn't pull her out'

'She fell in and went down immediately'

'The boom just hit her in the head and that was it'

Sooooo easy, so easy.

Anybody think he might be telling the truth?

Kinda hope it was just an accident and him panicking, and not my 1st guess, for her sake or rather the sake of her family.

I wonder when we will know for sure if it's the torso of Kim Wall or not.

Did they know much of each other before arranging the submarine trip or were they strangers until then?

well i would say torsos dumped in the sea at the same time is very small, the police are being cautious but lets be honest it is her. It also seems it was mutilated.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-41016881

''A headless and limbless corpse found in waters off Denmark was deliberately mutilated, say Copenhagen police.''

''"The current situation is that there is a torso in which arms, legs and head have been removed off as a result of deliberate cutting," said Jens Moller Jensen of the Copenhagen police.''

I think it probably is her too, but I know the Danish authorities will at some point confirm whether it is or not. I simply wonder when that confirmation will be announced

This is so bizarre. If a fiction writer wrote this then the publishers would reject it on grounds that its absolutely bonkers.

First murder ever on a small privately owned submarine.

To be fair it may not have been on the submarine.

Something is not right. I am in the he tried it on an then ended up raping an killing her camp but why chop up the body. He has a sub surely he could have sailed out to deep water dumped body sailed back somewhere else then called in in saying she fell over board. Even 1 milw from where he dumped her would have been enough.

I can't understand cutting the body up though if its someone else i would be amazed.

Indeed, I thought I left a question mark at the end.

Regardless, its an odd (and intriguing) story thus far.

Very strange indeed and I feel for the victim's family.

I wonder once all the facts come out, if they ever do, if a film will be made.

which truth? The one whee he said he dropped her off, but after the police scoured the cctv found no evidence.
The one where he then said there was an accident on board and he buried her at sea for whatever now seemingly nefarious reasons.
The one where he said the ship accidentally sank but later found he had caused it. it is really hard to follow his stories never mind the 'truth'.
