Well, he may well be the President with the lowest IQ ever, but no one can say he lacks an imagination.

He's just thrown out a little tweet dangling the idea that the pre-election "dossier" put together by that former MI6 agent, might actually have been co-funded by a conspiracy between the Russians (well, obviously it would be them), the Democrats (uh, well, umm, yeah, one can see how *Trump* might think that), and the FBI (I beg your pardon? The FB-fking-I, conspiring with a foreign government? What the fk?).

He's doing a lot of deflection tweeting today. I wonder if some kind of news is about to break...

I think this is a clear indication of the donalds character. It's all about show, bluster and he believes if he keeps saying lies enough that eventually people will believe them. After all it seems he does.

I have the original painting says the donald. Oh no you don't say many, many expects and the museum who has the riginal

I think that you'll find that "He doesn't know, but many many people have told him.......". A bullscheisser extraordinaire...., we will not see his like again.

In other news General Kelly came out with a pretty robust defence of Trump. It sounds like he has genuine respect for the tub of lard...hard to understand why.

Bit slow though. I think that there is more to both sides to the phone call however maybe the press should just leave it be.

There is another one trickling past in the background concerning the cheque and timing of its sending.

But really, do not bring theses things to the public eye in this way, he really should have not turned it to a political football.

I would guess something dossier related is coming soon and he's been asked for a comment. Hence the bonkers tweet about the FBI having conspired with the democrats and the russians to pay for it.

This General is no fool so it was just an act IMO. I'd be surprised if he lasts a year in this job. Trump will do something or several things that Kelly will realise is/are indefensible and he'll go.

He did, but again it's clear that the donald didn't really listen to what he was told. Kelly said Obama didn't call him, however he did host him at a breakfast soon after. The donald heard this as Obama didn't call anyone, so either he has the attention span of a goldfish, or only hears what he wants to hear. It's also clear this chat was where he got the 'he knew what he signed up for', only Kelly explained it with empathy:

“He was doing exactly what he wanted to do when he was killed,” Kelly remembered being told by his casualty officer, Marine Corps Gen. Joseph Dunford, who is now chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. “He knew what he was getting into by joining that one percent,” he added. “He knew what the possibilities were because we're at war.”

His support wasn't over Trumps way of saying it, rather chose to criticise the congresswoman. “It stuns me that a member of Congress would have listened in on that conversation. Absolutely stuns me. I would have thought that was sacred,", rather ignoring the comment that the widow put it on speaker phone.

I think trump needs to release the tapes. He said he has proof...

I’m not too sure. He comes across as a person of integrity so I don’t think he’d put on an act for the media just to cover his boss’s shortcomings. It seemed like he genuinely meant it.

And with regards to Trump doing indefensible things….people have literally lost count of the number of indefensible things that Trump has done. He’s a proven liar, a fraud, a multiple bankrupt, and a self confessed sleazebag. (I mean FFS what kind of mental deficient boasts about how humble he is?). Kelly, Mattis, Tillerson have seen how he behaves, acts, and talks and they seem to be happy to accept it.

The White House quickly backtracked on that one - there are no tapes. See also: Comey.

Interesting, I thought all calls made on Presidential business were recorded. Obviously not.

I mean I assume they actually are recorded somewhere but it's probably in an NSA vault etc

It's a strange one, maybe he's there for the greater good of the country, he could feel that Trump can't be left in charge without someone like him (Kelly) to babysit. As for the indefensible things you're right but I meant something will happen next while Kelly is the Chief of Staff.

Decorated Generals and integrity unfortunately don't go hand in hand, Colin Powell and the whole Iraq debacle highlighted that.

Orders have more weight than anything else to soldiers, which is the way it has to be. Of course this highlights the fact that if Trump orders a Nuclear strike there are Generals who will launch without a second thought.

The Orange Dotard seems incapable of showing empathy, which is the source of this issue, which is a failing in any human being and extremely dangerous in the POTUS

Yup - it's why he should be pressed on providing the proof he said he had, just to see him tie himself in knots... biggrin

He won't...it's happened before numerous times (in fact there's an example further up on this page, about Obama not contacting families of those KIA). This is his "Go to" response for pretty much ANY piece of bull doodoo that he's called out on....

Trump said:
I don't know. You'll have to ask others. Many, many people have told me that it was true, and that they were glad I mentioned <insert bulldropping du jour>. It's really really terrible that Obama let this happen and, I don't know, it just, you know it's the worst thing that's ever, I mean just look at what happened with Hillary and the Dems and the emails and Russia. I said at the time it was fake and that's exactly how it's turned out. But a lot of people have thanked me for raising this. <continuous stream of insensible drivel>

He is trying to hang on long enough for his very scary-looking son to take over and prolong the Trump Presidential dynasty, or Trumpnasty for short.
