Just because one of the denizens of the swamp has departed doesn't make the swamp less of a swamp.

If I saw an alligator climbing onto the riverbank, I would still not be inclined to get in the water.

He's outside the tent - and that makes a difference. He will not be getting daily access to the President and I expect his White House security clearance has now been closed down

He can shout as loud as he likes - but it's not the same as whispering in the President's ear.

Be interesting to see what he says, being close internally with secrets etc. Sounds like he might be a bit vindictive. Might get interesting.

With such a disreputable cast of characters - who knows who'll rat on whom.

Honour amongst thieves? Somehow I doubt it.

Six months from now:

@RealDonaldTrump "I hear Steve Bannon's failing Breitbart is losing money! A really dumb person! Glad I fired him.#Sad!"

Remember Trump said he owned a winery near Charlottesville and it was one of the largest in the US?

Turns out he doesn't own it and it's not even the biggest one in Virginia - https://www.indy100.com/article/charlottesville-wi...

He'll be along shortly to explain that he never actually said that, it was somebody else - who he thinks he's now fired or, if not, will do so when he tracks them down.

I am not sure that this will reduce his influence. He is a rabble-raising demagogue of considerable skill and sees the world in terms of maximum damage to his assumed enemies. Pretty clearly he will run campaigns against a number of the surviving WH staff, and he has the incredibly wealthy Robert Mercer and his daughter who have endless funds to bankroll him. I think he may be quite formidable. As for the President's ear, there is no known connection to his brain, and in any case Bannon will simply invent "facts" to fill in any real gaps in information.
